In order to discourage us from wanting to buy ice-cream, my aunt told my cousins and me that the ice-cream man wanted to kidnap us. So, every time we heard the ice-cream truck, we'd run inside and hide.
Until my oldest son was almost 5, he believed that the ice cream truck was actually the "music truck" and that he drove around neighborhoods in the summer so that kids could run outside and randomly dance on their front porches as the truck drove by.
my friend used to believe that when the ice cream van ran out of icecream, they made the music...needless to say she never got to buy icecream from them
When I was younger, my dad had me convinced that the noise from the houses on the neighborhoods AC was the ice cream man making his ice cream... I believed him until I was probably 10...
When I was like 8 or so, we had this ice cream van that came by and played the Mario Bros. theme song. At first I though it was Mario who was handing out the ice cream to the kids, until one day I had enough money to buy one and found out it was actually a woman.
When very little, my mother told me the man driving the Ice Cream Truck was the Music Man. When I heard the music, I needed to run inside, get in bed, and take my nap. If I didn't do that right away, the Music Man wouldn't come around playing tunes to lull me to sleep with anymore.
I used to believe that when the ice-cream van came round playing a tune, that meant they were actually all out of ice-cream! Think my mum must have told me that to save a few pennies!!!
My family was really poor, so growing up my parents told me the ice cream man was the music truck who brought lovely tunes to all the children. Every time the ice cream truck went by my mom would yell "The music man, lets go out and listen with all the other children"
They probably saved so much money.
My neice was led to belive that when the ice cream truck came thru and the music played he was OUT of ice cream!
My dad asked me to get him a 99er from the van one day, so i duly obliged and brought back a small chocolate flake - minus an ice cream.
Dad was not amused and had to run out and get his own from a bemused ice cream man.
a child my sister and i always used to run into our house shouting at mum for an ice cream whenever we heard the ice cream van tune... now i'm a mum i saw how annoying this could be - to just drop everything you are doing to run up the street and try and catch the van before it moved on. therefore i have told my children that the man in the van plays his music to attract small children to take them away! my eldest- now 12 cannot believe that he fell for it.. my kids are the only ones not screaming at mum when they hear that familiar tune from down the street!!!
I was about 7 years old when i girl named mikelle biggs went missing and i guess she went to get ice cream and they only found her bike so I was convinced that if I got ice cream from an ice cream truck that I would disappear so I avoided them....until I was 14.
When I was little, I couldn't see into the window for the ice cream truck. So I never knew he PUT the soft-serve ice cream in the cone or dish. I thought it was ready-made in the freezer, like popsicles. I was always amazed that our ice cream wasn't squished up.
When I was younger me and my older brother, Edward, belived that the ice cream man would secretly put drugs inside the lollies etc...and it wasnt only us who believed that it was the whole neigbourhood yeah it was pretty weird...
xx
my friend told me that if you looked up at the stars at midnight and said "ice cream man" 3 times , you would find a bloody bullet in your ice cream the next day. i tried it and i thought i saw the bullet but it was just a strawberry.
My mom used to tell me when the ice cream truck came it was the one with chile ( that is really spicy in spansh and i didnt like spicy food ) so i would say " really? ohhhhh yuck " and then i would go back in side. its was a long time before i found it not true. thx mom
My mum used to tell me the music on the ice cream van was actually the bin man, I heard her telling my 2 year old son this last week and he believed her, I might tell him the truth one day(!)
I used to think all ice cream truck drivers were molesters coming to kidnap kids
I used to think if you get married sometimes you'll get a kid by chance for no reason if you're lucky
I used to think if I ate fish my stomach would get filled up with ants
I thought I was dying when I saw the blueish color of the palm of my hand.
I grew up in a rural area and we didn't have any ice cream truck. So I thought they were just something that was made up for TV and movies.
For many years I believed that if the ice cream man was playing music it meant that there was nothing left! Thats what mum told us!!
