I used to strongly believe that if a person hit their dog in anger the place where the dog had been hit would later turn into a tumor.

I used to belive that if you picked a kitten up by the scruff than you would be its mom forever and it would never leave, AND it would go to school as well(if a human was its mom of course)
I now know better

I remember listening to Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent (or is it Nuget?), and there used to be a stray cat that roamed through our neighborhood, affectionately named, "The Black Cat." So my brother, four or five at the time, wanted to pet the cat (we have two cats still and we love cats in general), but my dad said that the cat would scratch him and he'd be all like, "ooghaghadklhfalkh!" *insert weird noises* and that a bus would come up with a bunch of people yelling the same thing and they'd throw you on and take you away. Terrified my brother, I'll tell you.

I stopped believing the bus story after my dad told me he made it up. It was pretty funny to watch him be the mad people though.

I used to think that girl dogs were called meters and male dogs were called ometers because that's what my parents called them. Turns out that they made up those silly names for dogs while they were dating and it kind of stuck. Problem was, I didn't know it wasn't a slang word for dog ... like pooch or mutt. Had something to do with O'Cedar Mops commercial or something. LOL!

There is something you should know, i was a suspicious little kid. I thought that cats wanted to take over the world which was currently run by humans and dogs. That was why dogs hated cats so much. Coincidently, i was a dog person.

When I was about 4 or 5 I stepped on the neighbor's cat's tail and didn't tell anyone. The very next time I saw the cat, it was covered in bandages and had had surgery. Until I got to college I firmly believed that it was my fault that the cat needed an operation. I finally told my mother and even though I know it's not my fault, I still feel guilty.

My parents own a very skinny tiger cat named Kaboodle, and my brother's family has a very large Golden Retreiver named Buddy. While babysitting the other day, my 4-year-old niece announced to me, "I don't think Kaboodle is Buddy's mother". I did some investigating and found out she got this from her older 9-year-old brother, who now at this late age has only just learned that cats don't give birth to dogs! :)

I used to be have a cat called 'Dusky' that would always come into my bed and annoy me by trying to rub against my face while I was trying to sleep. I used to hate that cat so much I ended up having nightmares about it and had really bad sleeps because of it. In my dreams I believed it was a demon cat that was trying to kill me by lack of sleep.

When I was younger, somehow I got it into my head that in every abandoned box by the side of the road, where little kittens. I don't know where this belief came from, but I am in my mid-20's and for a moment, everytime I see a box on the side of the road, I wonder if there are kittens in it!

We had a collie and she had clumps of matted hair behind her ears. I used to believe that when I squeezed the clumps it made a light come on in her mouth.

Looking back at it, the belief that dogs eat cats is a pretty funny idea. I used to believe it myself.
