Cats and dogs are the same species

I used to believe that all cats were female and all dogs were male.
I also believed that the monsters would eat me if I didn't have my cat with me at night. I thought that all monsters were afraid of cats!!!
And I was also convinced that my cat told my mom about all the naughty stuff I did, so I never misbehaved in front of her...

Cats and dogs are the same species.

I certainly believed, and not without a lot of independent reasoning. To me, cats were unmistakedly feminine and dogs very macho. They also vary wildly in size, with a shitsu dog looking much closer to a kitten that a great dane. So I believed that dogs and cats were the males and females respectively of the same species. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to find out I was wrong.

When I was a little girl I believed that dogs were always boys and cats were always girls. How this worked, I'm not sure, but that's what I thought.

Like many others, I thought that cats were female and dogs were male. This was because of the Good Girl cat treats and Good Boy dog treats. I used to think that dogs and cats would get married and the cats would give birth to lots of puppies and kittens.

I see someone anonomously has already put my belief up, the one about cats being female and dogs being male but I also didn't know the truth until I was about 9 yrs. old when my mom told us about the birds and bees. Then I got the idea how things actually work. I am glad to see I am not the only kid who thought that.
