I was told when a bee stung you it lost it's stinger and died, but I heard wrong and thought if you were stung by a bee you would die. Well one day I was stung by a bee and I started cyring and cryingg and wouldn't stop until my parents told me that i heard wrong.
Ladybugs are deadly. I was told this by my brother, who, days after, put a hand full of them down my shirt while walking home from school (I was 6 at the time). To this day (I'm now 21), I still have a phobia.
When I was 4 or 5 I got lice, but for some reason I thought this was a good thing, so I went to school walking around telling everyone proudly that I had lice. I always wondered why they stayed away from me...
Thank you to the person who said that red ants don't eat flesh. I always thought they did!
When we first learned about pollination back in Primary School, I asked the teacher why that didn't lead to stuff like flowers that were half dandelion and half violet. She answered that on each trip from the hive, a bee would visit only one species of flower, so a bee who'd collected nectar and pollen on violets would bring it home to the hive before visiting any other kind of flower.
I believed that for years, and am still disgruntled when I think about a techer telling us silly stories.
I used to LOVE pouring salt on slugs and watching them bubble and sizzle - until my Mother told me that slugs could jump! I never felt safe after a rainstorm again... Love ya' Mom!
I used to believe that moths were sent by the devil to steal your innermost thoughts. Whilst you were asleep they'd fly into your ear and through to your brain. I still cannot go to sleep if there's a single moth in the house, and always pull the duvet up so that it covers my ears, just in case.

My friend used to believe that bees made honey and jam.
I used to believe that crickets could poison you with a special liquid they kept in their legs if you stared at them or get too close...
When I was a kid, I thought a Shoefly was a type of fly. This was because of the song Shoo Fly, don' bother me...
I used 2 believe crumbs turned into bugs.
I remember when I was little and we were at a lake full of dragon flies I got mad and my dad and I told my dad "shut up" He jumped up and said "dont say that or the dragonflies will sow your mouth shut" I believed that for a very long time and one day got curios and told a dragon fly to shut up and ran after I said it. lol
I used to belive that Green Bay Flies common in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when I was a boy would potentially fly up your nose and build a nest in your brain. At certain times of the year there were hoards of them and they were about the size of a small grasshopper. It seemed like I was forever holding my nose shut . . . just in case.
I used to believe woodlice were called crawly pigs. I didn't find out they weren't called crawly pigs until I was not young anymore!
