When I was in second grade, my sister (who was a kindergartener) and I used to believe that the little black seeds that dropped off of palm trees were actually cockroach eggs. In an effort to diffuse a cockroach infestation, we gathered them during recess at school (or wherever else we'd find them) and collected them into plastic drink containers.

Once we filled it up with "cockroach eggs", we'd seal it shut and throw them away.

When I was little we used to have sugar ants in our house and I was so afraid of them biting me and hurting like the fire ants did (I'm allergic). So every night when I had to use the bathroom, I'd be terrified that the loud toilet flush would wake up the ants, so I'd end up sprinting out of the bathroom and into bed

When I was about 9 I had a single bed and I had a huge light on my wall next to my bed. One night I was in bed reading a book and It came to a part in the story about a spider and in the corner of my eye i saw somthing moving and I saw a HUGE spider almost on my sholder. I ran out screaming and crying. Now I never read books about spiders and i belive that you always have to check your bed for spiders!!!

Someone told me, as a child, that a hair, once swallowed, turned into a worm.
This was apparently to keep me from putting my long hair into my mouth:-)

When I was 8 I was terrified of huntsman spiders. One day my cousin told me that they could slide right under my bedroom door. I think I blocked under there with clothes to get rid of the space.

Once my mum told me that if I saw a wasp, if I stayed still it wouldn't sting me. One day, out in the garden I was approached by three hornets, which I thought were wasps. I decided to stand as still as humanly possible, only the damn things wouldn't go away. I stood there for over half an hour until the hornets got bored. I'm glad I got over that one.

When I was small I always called Woodlice, Armadillos because they had that armour on. I even played with them in the house!

My brother and I also made a worm farm in tha back garden with fences and then couldn't understand where all the worms had gone when we came back the next day!

The continuous buzzing noise heard outside, most often in raw nature, and sometimes in urban areas. Actually an insect, but thought to be 'the power lines.'

I realized this was infact not true last year when asking the boyfriend. "Honey... where is that sound coming from? There arent any power lines around...."

I told my sister that slugs werent really insects but a waterproof casing for those tiny red spiders that run about on walls in hot weather. I told her that whenever there was rain about 10,000 of the little red spiders run inside their waterproof case and move around together in the form of a slug. she believed every word

When I was little, I used to think that if I walked bare foot, spiders would come out of the ground to come bite my feet. My mother told me this, so that I put socks. She had to buy socks with a princess on.

When I was young, I was once getting ready for a shower and there was a huge beetle in the tub. I screamed for my mom to kill it. She smashed it and washed it down the drain. I wouldn't get it unless she scrubbed the entire tub. From that day on, even after countless washes, I still believed that spot where the bug had been smashed, was contaminated. I would not step on that spot because I though I would get contaminated.
