When I was little my mother told me that it was against the law to kill a ladybug and if I did I would get arrested.
I saw my 8 year old brother trying to sleep last night and he was just all covered up but sweating a lot. I asked him why he didnt just take the blanket off and he said because he didn't want malaria. He believed that there were mosquitos in his room that would bite him if he uncovered and he would for sure get malaria and die.
I believed that ants were little pieces of chocolate. i tryed one and it tasted good. But then again i was 3.
When I was very young, I was TERRIFIED of flies! No, not bees or wasps, but flies! I think I had mixed up bees/wasps up with flies, becuase I was always scared they'd hurt me. I'd cry everytime I saw one.
When I was a child, I had a deep routed fear of giant mutant spiders breaking through my cieling and killing me in my sleep. This was triggered by watching the movie "Eight Legged Freaks."
When I was little I was afraid of the insects, because I always thought that the animals could sting me.
I had the impression that the animals wanted to hurt me. Except that my stepfather who is not afraid of anything killed them all and I wanted to do the same as him. Then my father told me, "It's not the little beast that's going to eat the big ones." So I took my courage with both hands and then I started to realize that some insects could not sting me and that I surpassed this phobia.
I used to believe that sand was made of ants, because when I stepped on sand for the first time (as I remember)I landed on a trail of ants that bit my toes and legs to numbness. That's why I never knew the joys of sinking your toes in the sand till I was 8 yrs. old, thanks to ants.
I used to believe that butterflies were flies that ate butter instead of crap.
When I was young, my mother grew poppies along the fence, and I thought that those poppies were where spiders came from (thanks to my sister)! I could never go near them, especially when they had no petals. I still avoid poppies...
When i was like about 4 I was reading up on poisonous spiders, later that day i was convinced that a tiny house spider was a poisionous jumping spider and i felt as it was my duty as an older brother to go in first to catch it, to protect my sister. Ironicaly I am 14 now and can still remember this and my sister never thanked me for sacrificing my life (yeah right!) for her.
I used to belive if I catched grasshopper and haled in my hands for a long time, this insect would get used and wouldnt jump away!

i used to believe that butterflies could bite.
I used to believe that if ants got in your room while you were sleeping they would go in your ears and control you i was realy scared after that and guess who told me my ulel
I used to believe that if I squashed a big hairy spider then all his little spider friends would somehow know, and they would come and get me while I was sleeping.
I still can't bring myself to kill one.

When I was little I liked to colect acorns and my brother said wasps came from acorns. I believed him.
up until a few years ago I had long held the belief that eating greenfly helped cure colds. It never worked. I still have about a cold a month, but it makes for a great tale at dinner parties!
i used to believe that if a lizard's tail drops into your ears you'll become deaf
