top belief!
i used to think that the hills were all the dead dinosaurs that just decided to lay down somewhere and they eventually died. And after they died i thought that teh grass was their "hair" and i always wondered why "broccli" (( trees )) grew on their backs.
my parents still laugh at me to this day.
top belief!
I go to summer camp and one of my best friends was really scared of deer. This is because she thinks they come up and nibble at your nose, looking all cute, but then they surprise you and rip your face off & eat it
I used to believe hampsters were miniature kittens and that when they bit me i would be poisoned.

I used to believe reindeer made it rain because for many years it rained on christmas eve night.
I used to believe that unicorns truly existed because I saw one at the circus as a kid. For years I would defend what I saw, then I realized it was just a white horse with a horn attached to its head and a beard to its chin. However, I still want to believe in unicorns.
I used to believe that there were bats living in my toybox
this kid in my class beleived he was a cheetah. he would act like one most of the time, and would pretend to chew on the desk and stuff like that. I thought it was funny to tell him that everytime I ripped a page out of the National Geographic a cheetah would die. I think he really beleived me because he got pretty upset. I thought it was hysterical and kept ripping out pages and saying "oh look another cheetah just died!"
I heard that dinosaurs were under the ground, so every time I saw a hill, I thought that was where a dinosaur fell and grass just grew over it.
My cousin used to think that the name for polar bears was 'snowlar' bears, because they lived in the snow.
I used to think guerrillas were the same as gorillas. Imagine how scared I was when I saw Planet of the apes as a kid.
I was told by my Dad that mountain goats' right legs were shorter than their left legs so they could walk round and round the mountain, upright. I always believed this up until my teens and probably passed on this misinformation to many of my peers.
I lived in a small country village when I was a child. My best friend's uncle owned a local farm and we went to visit him. He showed us his newly born calves. When we returned home I told my mum that my friend's uncle Ted had shown us his bollocks.
on a family holiday we were travelling to an unfamiliar area that had a lot of farming. In the taxi ride from the airport my younger brother aged 2 pointed excitedly at some cows in a field 'look mummy! goats!'. I, the all-knowing 4 yr old corrected him immediately. 'Don't be silly Edward, they're not goats, they're catholics'. Apparently the taxi driver nearly drove off the road..shaking with laughter.
As I very small girl I used to believe that corned beef came from those cows with a pattern of ragged red-brown patches on their hides. That pattern rather resembling corned beef, I imagined the cows were simply sliced up, in some mysterious way which wouldn't hurt them.

Just yesterday I thought about something I used to believe as a child and then I thought what a neat website topic "childhood beliefs" would be. Then today as I was searching Google for "cats wearing clothes" I ended up on this site. Incredible. And coincidentally my childhood belief involves cats. When I was 4 or 5 I spent lots of time looking at books. (My three older brothers all went to school and I had to stay home.) I remember seeing a series of photographs in "The Books of Knowledge" (honest that's what this series of books were called). The first photograph showed a live lion posed on a low rectangular pedestal and the next photo showed a workman putting the finishing touches to a lifesize cement lion sculpture. I cried to think that the poor lion was sacrificed to create art. I believed that the man had simply encased the lion in cement!
I used to believe dinosaurs still lived and I was terrified. When
I looked at snakes and reptilians, I thought they would kill me.
When I was about 5 years old I went to the beach with my parents. The 1st day there,I loved it but the second day we went to this museum about sea animals. There was this program about whales washing into the harbor. When we went to the beach I was convinced that the waves were whales and I was trying to save them and every time I tried I was amazed that they dissapeared and turned into water. (I thought they had died and dissintigrated already.)
