I used to think that butterflies made butter
I used to believe that snakes don't have legs cause ants bit them of.
I used to believe that deer listened to the radio, an idea that I got from believing that antlers were vaguely the same sort of thing as antennae
When I was little I taught that a volcano was a fish.Don't know why,it just sounded like a fish name.
When I was young, my aunt used to tell me that the gurgling sound the sink made when all the water was let out after we finished the dishes was her pet alligator. I still haven't stuck my hand down drain, but mostly because I know it's just gross in there.
I used to think that horseback riding was something belonging to fables and fairy tales, so when I discovered it was real and feasible my dream came literally true.
earwigs were the same thing as those brain chewing things from that star trek film that went in your ear and controlled you.
I used to believe there were special kinds of pigs who had leeks inside them 'cos I used to eat those sausages with leeks in - I used to believe sausages were an actual part of the pigs anatomy.
I had a friend at school whose Dad had told her that tortoises had wings and that they were related to Ladybugs. We found this in a conversation about pets when we were 18 - cos you don't often talk about tortoises in everyday conversation she had never had anyone dispel the myth!
I believed that penicillen (that magical medicine) came from moles (those small little creatures underground whose name sounds curiously like the place penicillen really comes from -- mold)
I used to believe that parana fish were invisable.
When I was younger I believed that grey squirrels were merely old-aged red squirrels! Don't ask me why I believed this, I just kinda assumed it!
When I was about five, we had a big tree in our backyard. I truly believed that squirrels lived inside the trunk of the tree and that the knots on the tree were doors. I would spend hours knocking on all of the "tree doors", trying to get a squirrel to answer.
I used to believe that there were such things as 'house hippo's' and they lived in my skirting board. I used to think they came out at night to get milk to drink, and so i never saw them.
I wish they did exsist!! :D
I used to belive that pigs could actually fly but when humans were around they hid there wings by sucking them into there body
I obviously misheard someone talk about this along the way but I always thought that otters made pearls (instead of oysters) Actually until about a year ago. (I'm 21)
My dad told me once that a whale lived inside the big box that you take your pop cans to to recycle and get money. He told me the whale ate the cans. I believed that for a lot longer than I should have.
When I was a kid I always thought that those beautiful sweaters, etc. that said "100% Virgin Wool" had to come from virgin sheep. I couldn't quite make the connection of how the wool could possibly change after a sheep had had sex, but at the time it did make sense. I still chuckle to this day when I see "100% Virgin Wool" tags.
I thought that cows were made of cheese. Literally; like when you cut into them it'd be like cutting out a wedge of cheese. Creepy, I know.
we once convinced my OLDER sister that the little red balls on the powerlines in large cities were actually subdivision housing for the city squirrels sice there weren't enough trees to go around! well, we let her believe this for about a year......i think she figured it out when i kept telling everyone about it. she was 15!!!!;) thank god for siblings!
