I have kept fish all my life, and we have to put stuff in the water that keeps the chlorine in tap water from poisoning the fish. On the bottle, it says it also eliminates nitrate and nitrite, which are bad for fish. Well, I thought these were the same thing as nitrogen, so when I found out that a huge percent of our air is nitrogen, I was terrified, because I thought, That's the stuff that kills fish!

My dad used to tell me elaborate tales about a pet mouse he'd had as a boy. He made airplanes for it and all kinds of stuff. It would talk to him, etc. In first grade we had a test on "fact or fiction". Something like, "Which is fact, a talking squirrel or Abraham Lincoln was a president?" I totally failed the test and never could comprehend why my dad would lie to me about such an incredible thing.
When I was very young, I remember going to London zoo with my parents and asking my dad why the bison had wooden ears, thinking that horns were ears.
My grandfather told me that buffalo wings came from real bufalo. As people began growing out west it was dangerous for the buffalo to fly. You know cause' they would kill us.(Big damn things flying around!)So people clipped their wings as soon as they were born. I always thought that a turtle's shell was hard and able to protect them from any harm's way. It was not until my last year of highschool (yes, that late) that my classmates decided to enlighten me with the truth - a turtle's shell won't protect them from being ran over by a car. My naiveness has since been shattered beyond repair.
Whe i was about six we had a natural sponge. And as you do when your a little kid i used to bath with my sister. She always used to tell me an octopus lived inside of it and that if i used it, it would leap out and kill me. I threw a fir when my mum washed me with it.

When I was little I used to believe that sharks lived inside water beds. One day my mom tried to lay me down on a water bed and I cried. She tried to explain to me that sharks do not live in water beds, but I would not believe her.It took me a few years to get over the fear of sharks living in water beds.
I used to believe that a vitamin was a small animal
only recently I have found out that it is not true... :)
On my ninth birthday, I was eating cake in the kitchen with my friends when my mom asked me to come outside for a minute. As soon as I got out the door, I was astonished to see a real live pony standing in the street in front of my house. I actually believed for a whole two seconds that my parents had gotten me a pony for my birthday. My very first thought was, "Oh! Where will we keep her? Maybe we could build a stable in the backyard and I could ride her to school and . . ."
My mom must've noticed the look on my face because she very quickly informed me that the pony was only rented for an hour. Oh well, we still had fun riding it and it was ALMOST a dream come true.
I read a story about Micky Mouse when I was little. It was about a boy who had Micky Mouse as a pet in his house. I thought that Micky Mouse was real, and that people could buy them as a pet. I really wanted some Micky Mice in my house but i didnt know where I could buy one.
Up untill I was 13, I was convinced that a Haggis was a small, DVD box-sized sandy coloured creature with four legs native to Scotland. Its two left legs were shorter than its right, which made it run around the Scottish mountains in circles.
For those of you who don't know, a haggis is in fact a Scottish meat thing (that you eat)
i believed that moles wore davy lamps on their heads so they could see underground
When I was about four my mom told me that millions of years ago people used to be chimps. And I went 'Did grandma used to be a monkey?' and I was sure that everyone was born a monkey and as they got older they turned human.
