One day while at a cottage when I was 4, my nanny informed me that if i swam in the lake, fish would bite my toes off because they looked like little worms. I did not swim in a lake for many many years afterwards.
When I was about 5, we lived right near the ocean, and my mom and I would often take walks on the beach. One day, I saw flying fish for the first time, and I thought for sure that they would fly out of the water one night and get me. I refused to call them flying fish, and instead called them "devil fish". I was deathly afraid of them for quite a while, and I still don't really like them.
I used to believe that on the farm all the Black and white cows were boy cows and all the brown and white cows were girl cows!
When I was little, I was told constantly by my Grandpa that Alabama had purple hoop snakes. To move they had to hold onto their tail with their mouth and become a hoola hoop. From here, they would roll down hills.

i used to believe that each species of animals was their own gender. For instance, all dogs were male, cats were female.
At a very young age i spotted a picture in a book of an animal resembling a llama, but with two heads - one at each end. For a good few years i was convinced that this animal existed. I thought it was such a strange looking animal - that i was confused as to why nobody ever spoke about it. It was only when i began to learn the basic biology principles in school that i realised that maybe my Dad was right - it didn't exist!
I used to believe I had ear wax because a mouse would go to the bathroom in my ear while I was sleeping.
When I was about 8 or 9, my brother took me for a ride out to the country on his motorcycle. I pointed at a bull that was mounted on a cow. The bull was thrusting itself into the cow. I said "What are those cows doing?" "Dancing" my brother said. "Oh." I said, thinking I never knew cows danced.
When I was a kid I was terrified of the ocean because I was sure I'd get eaten by sharks. So my dad told me that the bouys they use to mark off swim aread held shark-nets that would keep them away from the swimmers.
One day in class, a 17 year old friend of mine saw a picture of a tiger and said "OOO, look, it's Leo" (Leo is our local university's LION mascot). We thought he was joking so we laughed hysterically. Well, it turns out that when he was litle, his brother told him that tigers are the females and lions are the males of the same species. Needless to say, he still hears about it.
I used to think that whenever you barked and were trying to say something, you had to think it out as you were barking...like loud telepathy.
I used to believe that tigers were girls and lions were boys
When I was about 5 or 6, my brother told me that bats like to swoop down and make nests in your hair. I think I still believe that one!
I usied to believe that there were lobsters under my dads couch!!
i used to belive that babies come from monkeys...
When I was younger I thought that if you stepped on a crack it would make dinosaurs come out and they would eat you right up!
When I was about eight, maybe seven, I had a nightmare that my mom got eaten by a shark.
I took to warning her about every little inch of water she approached, even if it was shower water. Luckily that only lasted about a day or two.

I used to believe that fish were actually aliens that need water to live and pet turtles were actually the teanage mutant nija tutles in diskise!
I used to belief sloths lived in trees outside my childhood home. My older sister told me so.
