I used to think that cows and horses were the same thing like the horse being a boy and the cow being a girl
when they breed the baby would either be a girl(cow)or a boy (horse)

On the way to our camp, my Dad used to tell my brothers and me that if the cows were all standing by the barn it meant that it was going to rain. I actually passed that little tidbit on to two of my sons before learning that he had made it up!

My brother and I were once in the supermarket. My mom asked if we wanted cantillope. My brother responded, brightly "Lions eat Cantillope!"
It took a while to explain to my mom that he had misheard The Lion King: Lions eat Antillope, not Cantillope!

Growing up, I was never allowed to have an inside pet.. But my stepdad was an avid hunter and we had lots of mounted heads and taxidermied animals in our house.. I believed they were my pets.. I would name them and pet them and talk to them all the time.. Let this be a lesson to all parents... Get your kid a pet..

I used to think that a lot of pets you could own were actually wild animals. Ferrets, hamsters, lizards, turtles, snakes... I didn't realize you could buy these animals in a pet store until I was 12.

I was so scared about the movie "Jaws" that I was sure that sharks could be anywhere with water! I was constantly afraid that the person who lived underneath my apartment could have a shark is his bathtub as a pet, so i used to take a shower very quickly! The same thought was applied to the swimming pool! And in any moment the floor would open and a shark would come out! I never stayed alone at the pool, and in one afternoon, when my mom called me to go inside i answered, "I can't go now, they (my two sister and my father) are still in the pool and I need to take care of them. It's late and the shark will come at any moment!". After all, who could better save them from this beast than a 7 years old girl? No one!! I knew all about sharks and their evil plans and dirty secrets!

When I was in primary school, every now and then some people would come in to do talks on how to be safe doing everyday jobs. One time they came in to do a talk about chip pans saying how you should never put them in water straight after or theyll cause a fire or something along those lines. I thought that chippan was a type of monkey so the whole time was trying to figure out why there would be a monkey in the kitchen and how a monkey could cause so many fires!

I used to believe in frog houses. I grew up in South Carolina on land that was "rich" in Red Clay.As children, my siblings and I would pack the clay over our hands and feet, pulling out our appendages carefully so as to not tear our creation, and build what we called "Froghouses." We would then run and capture frogs and place them in their newfound homes. I was ahead of the game. I was building froghouse condos by the late 50's.Have you ever built a froghouse?

When I was about six I read on the front of the Young Telegraph that a new animal had been discovered which was had the head of the barn owl and the body of a weasel. Quite logically I assumed that you could breed this animal by mating barn owls and weasels. It was not until many years later that I realised the date of this particular newspaper - 1st April!

When I was very small, we lived down the road from a sheep farmer whose first name was Elmer. Until I was at least six or so I was convinced that he manufactured Elmer's Glue, because his name was Elmer and there is a picture of some kind of animal (sheep? goat?) on the glue label. I guess I thought it was a product symbol or something. It was not until many years later that I learned that glue is made from the remnants of animals like sheep and cows . . .
