when i was little my dad would hold the end of my blanket, then wave it in the air before letting it settle down on top of me. i honestly believed until i was about 8 that if i held on, i would go waving in the air too.
My mom has a light switch in her bedroom that doesn't work. When I was a child, I believed that it you accidentaly flick the switch, and don't get it back to normal in 10 seconds, that our whole hose would blast into outerspace and have aliens fight over it. I knew I shouldn't have watched Star Wars...
I was play in my room on the shaggy carpeting and I got up to turn on or off a light and received a mild static electric shock from the light switch. From that point on I was convinced that little men lived inside the light switches and would come out and poke you with a pin (I suppose I thought the shock felt a bit like a pin prick). I didn't touch the lights for quite awhile, prefering to live in the dark than risk being pricked again!
When I heard people mention sealing wax I thought it was ceiling wax. I couldn't fathom why anyone would need to wax their ceiling.
i used to think no one could see me if i went behind the tv, so that's where i would eat the food i snuck from the kitchen and play with the toys i took from my brother

When I was a kid, I used to be fascinated by secret passages. I heard stories of how you could press a button, or pull a book and this wall would open or slide to the side revealing this awesome secret passage. Before my closed was carpeted, there was this floorboard that looked like you could press it. I spent a few days coming up with elaborate plans (with friends) about how we could get into this secret passage. Imagine the disappointment when nothing happened after all our hard work.
when i was like 5 i remember my mother telling me she was going to ground me and i miss heard her and thought she had said drowned. so when we got home i went into the kitchen and ran the sink full of water for her, and called her in the kitchen. she explained everything to me and then made me do the dishes in the water.
When I was about three, I believed that pencils got longer as you sharpened them. I couldn't understand why we bought a whole pack of twelve pencils when we only needed one.
when i was about 3, i thought that electric outlets were actually mouseholes like in cartoons - except that the outlet parts were locks. so one day i got my mom's car keys and stuck them in an outlet, and it shocked me and made me cry
When I was little, a girl that was a couple of years older than me told me that if you touched the fiber glass insulation, that you would itch for the rest of your life, and all day you would be scratching your self and do this crazy dance.
One day when I was about 6 my mom asked me to clean some silverware. I had to use a special cream. After a little while I noticed there was a bit of tarnish that I couldn't get off. It was then my mom mentioned that I had to use more elbow grease. I wondered why she hadn't mentioned it in the first place as I was only using the cream. I was a little put off by her lack of detail but immediately started searching all the cupboards and drawers for the grease. I got a complete understanding 20 minutes later when my mother found me rummaging and asked what I was looking for.
When I was a little girl, there was a black and white photograph of a woman standing next to a lake above my closet doors. It was black and white, so seeing shadows was not easy, especially in the dark. I used to stare at it in the darkness of my room and I really thought I could see her turning around in the picture. I don't know what happened to that picture, but I will never forget it.
My mom always told me never to touch the green Mr. Yuck sticker she had on some medicines.
I was full-heartedly convinced he'd bite your finger right off.
I used to think that a dishwasher was a robotic person who would wash all the dishes, dry them up and then put them away for you. I was gutted when we got one and we had to load and unload it.
I used to believe that penguins lived in the back of my freezzer
I went to one of my mum's friend's houses once.
The radio was on and so was the washing machine, and I somehow thought the two were connected! I probably wondered why other people's machines didn't talk...
When I was younger I use to believe that vacuums, along with other random objects, were trying to kill me. I had several dreams of vacuum cleaners chasing me and sucking me up. Whenever i saw the closet door open (which contained the vacuum) I was run past it as fast as i could because i swore the vacuum was going to chase after me.
I used to believe that the dogs playing poker in the picture were real and I had dreams that I played with them!
When I was young I went on Holiday with my mother, I went to put my clothes away in the cupboard and saw 2 white balls in there. I asked my mum what are those and she said "they are moth balls" I looked at her really strange as I really thought they were a moths balls and they had left them behind. My mum never lets me forget this.lmao
