In my room there was a screw in the wall that looked a bit like an eye. I used to think my mam could use it to watch me wherever she was. (but she couldnt).

when i was about 8 i thought people lived in the vents where the ac and heat would come out of.. so when i went to the bathroom, id take a blanket and cover me up so the people in the vent wouldnt see me. i would sit there and watch the vent hoping i would see them.. i sorta felt sorry for them sometimes so i leave food for them but they never took it so i didnt like them cuz they seemed mean.

When I was little, I was really paranoid about fires, and in the dark everything would look grainy and I'd think my room was filling up with smoke. Loads of times I'd get up and turn the light on cos I thought something in the house was on fire

In the third grade my bike spokes were rusty so my mom bought me some Naval Jelly to solve the problem. As I thought it over I wondered if Naval Jelly was anything like elbow grease. My mom just laughed when I asked her if this was true.

I used to believe that their were monsters living in the walls of our house. I got this because one time my dad got very frustrated and punched the wall and accidently made a hole in it. The hole was under my brothers bed and when my brothers were jumping on their bed one day this baseball hat that was sitting on the edge of their bed fell off and went under the bed. One of my brothers got down to pick it up, but it was not there, nothing was under his bed. Thats when he saw the hole in the wall that my dad had made. We still to this day have never seen that hat again. Even after we had emptied out the house when we moved.

When I was little, my family and I would rent a house on the beach in the summer. Every year we would buy kites to fly. My grandmother would tell me and my brother that there were tiny people living on the kites and when we flew them too close to the house, they would jump off and run around on the roof. That was her way of explaining why the roof creeks at night. It was years before I understood the concept of materials expanding when they got hot and contracting when they cooled off as in the roof cooling off at night. Even now, as an adult, when the roof creeks on my own place, I think "Must be those 'Kite People'". LOL

I used to think that there was something called a 'sittit' relating to military equipment, because whenever my mum or daya would come into my bedroom they would say 'this room looks like a bomb sittit'. I thought the toys must have been arranged to look like a cannon or something

my parents didnt want me to stay up late as a little kid, so they told me that at midnight, all the chairs, tables, sofas, and all the furniture get legs and start running around blindly killing things (yes, i now realise how sadistic that sounds), anyway, it never worked, cause as soon as they went to sleep, i went back down to see if that really happend, and was disapointed every night when it didnt...ah well

after repeatedly hearing the phrase 'shut the door, there's a draft' I quickly decided a draft was a large monster, not unlike a lion, it's apprearance imminent. I always shut the door really fast.

I used to believe that I ad to keep my feet off the floor - either by sitting or standing on the furniture, or else some kind of monster would grab me.
I also thought that when I was in bad I had to tuck the quilt up under my feet so nothing could grab hold of them and drag me away, and that monsters could get me through th gap if my curtains weren't totally closed.
Sometimes I still do all of those things when I'm feeling insecure, and I'm 26 now lol!

As a child I was perplexed with the concept of right and left, I used to stand there and be like this is the right and this is the left (refering to the sides of the room) and then turned around and think now its switched! It used to puzzle me so much.

When I was very small, around 2-4 years old, I had several night terrors that my parents night stand (to which I referred to as "The Box") came into my room, climbed onto my bed, and stared at me. Those night stands scared me till I was nearly ten years old.

As a very little child (in early 1990's), I watched once one of the episodes of brilliant old TV show "Alternatywy 4" (1982), where female character turned on old russian TV-set with light bulb, talking to the her dear neighbour through the hole in wall :), and then when she was still talking, light bulb explosed (it was quite common with that sort of devices), and lighted flowers in the wase. Of course before she noticed that, the fire had already spread at the other furnitures, she started yelling through the window that she's about to burn up etc - it was very dramatic scene for me back then. I asked my dad why did that TV explosed, he explained it happen when you turn TV on being alone in home, and of course I believed him. When they had to left me alone in home, he advised me to turn on video with cartoons so I wouldn't be bored, and I was shocked how can he be such irresposnible - the house would after all burn off then!

Once when I was about 4 my mother called my father at work and they spoke randomly, while I played. She was furious when they hung up and said he could hear me in the "background". For a long time I thought there were microphones in the ground in the backyard of our home that my father could hear me on.

about 12 years ago when i was 4 my mum, dad, sister and i were all in the lounge. My sister and I were playin Noah's Ark memory game with animals and my parents were watching a film. My dad said to my sister, "Amy-Jo, can you shut the door because there is a draft coming through?" I sat there in amazement! We carried on playin the game and I kept lookin up at the door. About ten minutes after my sister had shut the door I walked over and sat on my mums lap and said...."Is there really a giraffe coming through?"!!!! Bless!

Once, after I had been reading a book about aircraft from the second world war, I convinced myself that the reason that my bedroom ceiling dipped a bit in the middle was that there was a second world war bomb between it and the floor above. I told my parents but they didn't believe me.

You know how if you look at a lightbulb, and then look away and blink a bit, you see a kind of after-image of the filament. If I did this I used to think that I was seeing "bugs".

Once I did this when I was staying with my aunt. When I saw the "bugs", I went and told my aunt that there were bugs everywhere. She went to look but didn't see any bugs, and she wondered what I was on about...

When I was a child we had the weight from the pendulum of a grandfather clock in an upstairs cupboard, and my two elder sisters told me it was a bomb and to be very careful with it.

I told all my friends and they all came to look at the 'bomb' but did not believe it. I called my sisters to verify my story, at which time they decided to tell the truth. Public humiliation!
