I once believed that the walls and ceilings were completely jam packed with plumbing and wiring.
I used to think that when you went in a lift, the doors would go up and down with the lift inside, and never understood why they were still there when the person was inside.
My next door neighbour always told me that the extension to his living room was a spaceship because when there was a full moon he could blast back home. I was never allowed to tell his wife and children. We went over for dinner one night and he showed me the buttons that were used to open the celing and blast off. I couldnt reach them, mind you i was scared that their nicely painted roof would collapse.

When my great grandmother was alive, she lived in an old home with one of those wells with the bucket on a rope. My mother used to tell us that a man named Baggy Eyes and Bloody Bones lived in the well, and if we got too close he would get us. It kept my cousins and me from getting too close and falling in. To this day, I have a terrible fear of those wells.
When I was young, my mother told me that if I got too close the garbage men, they would throw me in the back of the truck with the trash. Don't know what she was trying to instill in me. Maybe not to talk to strangers. But to this day, I will walk accross the street if nearing a garbage truck picking up trash.

When I was little, my dad informed me that our garage had black widow spiders in it, and I thought that when I turned off the garage light and went back into the house, millions of spiders would come pouring out to get me.
When I was younger I use to believe that vacuums, along with other random objects, were trying to kill me. I had several dreams of vacuum cleaners chasing me and sucking me up. Whenever i saw the closet door open (which contained the vacuum) I was run past it as fast as i could because i swore the vacuum was going to chase after me.
when i was like 5 i remember my mother telling me she was going to ground me and i miss heard her and thought she had said drowned. so when we got home i went into the kitchen and ran the sink full of water for her, and called her in the kitchen. she explained everything to me and then made me do the dishes in the water.
When I was age 7 I used to jump up and look inside my neighbours top-loading washing machine until she told me that if I put my hand in there sharp blades would come from out and cut my hands off.
I was 17 before I could ever go near one.
When I was about 5 or 6, I was always afraid of having too much balloons in the house or the car. I thought that if there was too much balloons, the car or house would float into space and carry us with it.
I used to believe that through the top shelf of the walk-in closet in my parents bedroom, there was a secret door that lead to a movie theatre. And it was called "Super Cinema". Don't remember many other details. I think the idea came first from a dream.
I used to believe that if I went down the stairs slowly a red eyed skeleton would come and run after me.
My grandparents used to tell me that there was a man named Mr. Smith who lived upstairs in their attic, and if I made noise I'd wake him up. Naturally I wanted to meet this stranger who lived in their house, but they'd never let me go up there. Now I know that it was just a story to keep the volume down.

When I was very young, there was a rug in one of the bedrooms. It had large red cabbage roses and a grey background. My older sister told me that if when I walked on the rug, if I ever stepped on the grey part, I'd be stepping on the boogie webs and would fall through. Then the Boogie Man would get me. I thought the Boogie Man was covered with disgusting, slimy boogers and felt scared and revolted. So every time I'd walk on the rug, I'd walk stiff legged over the roses and take the final leap to safety.
I used to think that if you left the vacuum in the same spot, turned on, without moving it, it would suck up the carpet and leave a bare or very short spot.
