up until i was about 7 i used to believe that there was an evil old man who lived in all of the dark parts of my house and if i went into a room without turning on the lights, he'd tie me up and feed me to his pet cockroaches. i'm 13 now and i don't believe in him anymore, but i still fear being eaten by cockroaches

Aren't i just buggy?

When I was little, we had a second house. It had a 'bedstee', it's a little room with only a bed in it. Anyway, I used to believe that there was a sort of imaginary world behind the wall, so I used to steal knives and screwdrivers to get behind the wood and into the other world... When my parents saw what I did with their wall they weren't happy...

I used to believe that doorways were evil. And there was one corner at the end of the hallway that was even more viscious. Each doorway in my house had it's own horrible monster. I was particualarly scared of the white fluffball and the bald phantom man. The corner at the end of the hallway was the worse. There was a dead girl with a green face and black and yellow eyes that would peak around, and I would wake up screaming because I was so little that if I dreamt or saw the corner it looked real to me. Now when I think about it, it is kind of embarrassing.

when i was about 4 or 5, my family told me that opening the door to the coal cellar it would cause an explosion... i believed it and stayed away, although i'd have LOVED to go in. Later on I realised they only said that to keep me from playing in there and making a huge black mess.

once when i was about 4 or 5, my sister who is 3 yrs older than me told me that there were crocodiles under our inside deck. i believed her and bawled my eyes out, and i didn't like walking down the steps in there or look inbetween the steps because you could see under the floor and over to the dark hole where the cross-space was. you can only imagine how confused my mom was when i told her that there were crocs under our house.

Our house had a very steep stairway to second story with a metal bannister. When I was little, I used to "FLY" down those stairs, but when I told parents about it, they said "YOU DID NOT!"; and so I learned to STOP FLYING and just use the bannister and descend the stairs like grownups did. (But sometimes in my dreams I can still do that FLYING--and it always feels so FUN and FREE.)

One time when I was little my dad put my Mickey Mouse ears and I was totally convinced he was Mickey Mouse. I got my mom to take a picture of us. He took the ears off, and I told him how exciting it was when I met Mickey Mouse.

dad shouted up one morning to me and my bro to search for a cat that had run upstairs when the front door was open. We spent hours searching for it. Of course it was a ploy to keep us upstairs for hours.....
