Whenever I mistreated something (anything, even if I "threw my shirt into the laundry chute too hard") I would pick the object up and apologize to it (heck, sometimes I would apologize to the wall for hitting my elbow on it.) Then I would give it a kiss and gently put it back down. I always felt sorry for the poor clothes that had to be thrown down the laundry chute.
At night, my mom would roll up a towel and put it infront of the door. She said it was to keep the 'draft' out, but for the longest time I could not understand how a 'giraffe' could fit under the door!
There was a custard well in my back garden
I used to have a recurring dream about a tunnel that led from under my mother's work desk on the first floor of our house to the attic above our car garage. I had the dream so often that I began believing the tunnel was actually there.
I spent many hours looking under that desk and in the corner of the attic in the car garage, but never did find that stupid tunnel.
Whe I was little I had a T.V in my room because my mom would watch it with me sometimes and when I was asleep with a night light and I thought that the light shining from the night light on to the T.V was the "T.v light" and I was soo scared of it. I thought it would popout and hopp down the hallway to my parents room and eat them.
One of my friends used to believe that when children are grounded they get locked in their room and a toilet grew in the room.
I used to believe that if I opened the dishwasher while it was running, a tsunami of hot water and suds would come flooding out of it and I'd get washed away.
It wasn't until I was 24 that I finally opened it mid way through a cycle and the water just stops and not a drop escapes. What a let down that was!
My beliefe was that the world was alot cooler upside down.when i was 6-8years old i used to lie upside down on the couch, envisioning the cieling was wear we really lived,It seemed so empty up there so... different. No furniture just lights to trip over and windows with very low sills.
my brother use to tell me crazy stuff when i was younger. he is the cause of most of my adult fears. I still can't stand near a microwave when it's on because i know the radiation might leak out and make my head explode.
Sometimes when I was little I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and I would be walking back from the bathroom in the dark, and I was totally afraid that some burglar had broken into my house, and that the burglar just happened to have a huge vicious dog with him, and that the dog was going to come running up the stairs and attack me at any second. It took me years to be able to go down the hallway in the dark without running!
When I was about 2 or 3, I used to go around the house with my brother at night, looking for E.T. (from the movie) with a flashlight.
When I was little i use to belief that if i eve left my doll in the car it would melt..s i ended up carring it all over in the shop..
As a child I was convinced that the furnace only came on when someone walked past a certain point in the house (namely the entrance to my bedroom hallway). When I heard it come on at night I was sure that it was ghosts or someone else in the house.
When I was a little girl, there was a black and white photograph of a woman standing next to a lake above my closet doors. It was black and white, so seeing shadows was not easy, especially in the dark. I used to stare at it in the darkness of my room and I really thought I could see her turning around in the picture. I don't know what happened to that picture, but I will never forget it.
I don't have any professional pictures of myself between the ages of two and four, because I thought that the camera was a gun and that it would literally "shoot" me
I used to believe that my mother vacuumed our living room to erase all of the footprints in the carpet. I was always jealous that she got to be the first one to make new footprints. With respect to my mother's efforts, I rarely walked on a freshly-vacuumed carpet because I wanted to keep the footprints down to a minimum.
When I was about 4 I asked my mom what a hoover was and she told me that it sucked up dirt. Then later that day my mom told me that I had a dirty mouth so I looked for the hoover.i couldnt find one but I found something else which looked similar but smaller,it was a razor!By the time I got to the mirror the dirt on my mouth had gone but I found a crumb on my eyebrow so I shaved my eyebrow off thinking that eyebrows were just dirt I shaved off my dads eyebrows in his sleep.
Recently my dad told me that when this happened people at work thought he was gay and unfaithful to his wife/my mom.LOL
When i was little, there was a tiny hold in the wall of my bedroom near the light switch. I used to believe that little people lived in there. God knows why. and i always wanted one day for them to come out and meet me. wierd huh?
My best friend told me when we were 6 that if you rang the doorbell the whole house would explote! So when my aunt rang the bell to my house I started crying hystericly!
When I was little my Mom bought a little percolator that looked just like the big one they used on the stove. I thought that the little pot was the big pot's baby..When I asked my Mom, she told me it was true.
