when i was three, i thought that my nanas bedroom light that hung from the ceiling, had a mouse lving inside it, because i heard it squeaking one day. my beliefe was shattered one day when the light bulb blew and i thought the mouse died. turns out that there was something wrong with the wiring and it made squeaky noises when the light was moved (t was one of those really dangly one)
I have no idea where she got this, but my little sister (who's four) took it into her head that umbrellas were really called rain-a-bellas. Now everyone in my family uses that word instead of boring old "umbrellas".
I used to be afraud to pull sn electric pluc because I thought my whole family would be sucked into the outlet.
When I was little, I would always stay over at my next door neighbor's house. She had a day bed with a canopy and it had a pull out bed underneith it. We were always afraid it would rain and the person who slept under the canopy would stay dry, but the one who slept on the pull out one would get wet! It got to the point where her mom would make us draw straws to see who got which bed.
i saw this thing on tv where a girl would clap to turn her lights on and of. i tried this, needless to say it did not work so i cried.
When I was about 4, my older brother and sister were talking in the kitchen and watching TV. We heard the door bell ring and leaving me behind they both ran up the stairs to my parents room. As quickly as I could I followed them and joined them in the room. All we did was sit there while they talked. I believed from then on until I was a little older that if the doorbell rang and you weren't going to get it, you better run and hide cause it's every man for himself. I always wondered who had rang the doorbell, at the time I figured it was a monster.
When I was 3 or 4 I thought that all inanimate objects had feelings, and they felt pain when you hit them hard.
I also thought that if you looked straight on at the edge of a knife it would cut your eyeball.
When I was very young, I used to believe Indians (of the Native American variety) lived in the spaces between the walls. They were a little annoyed at being cramped up in the walls all the time, so I was a little scared of them. I have no idea where this belief originated. I didn't know any Indians, although I recall some of the streets around us were named after Indian tribes.
i remember, im my nana's house, she had/has a nightlight that was red. i used to think it was a lazer, which would tell her who was upstairs. and if i slept there it'd tell her i wasn't asleep and she'd come for me.
Really, she heard my footsteps downstairs
i used to believe that i would get eaten by a shark if i stood on my bedroom carpet because it was blue like the sea!
I always thought that portraits hanging in the walls became portals to other dimensions at night, so I could never have portraits in my room.
I once believed that at night when you were in bed your pets would wake up and kiss you good night.
When my brother and I were younger, we used to call photo negatives 'angels'. It was just logical to us that they were angels!
I moved into a new house a couple of years ago and there was an old lady that used to live in this house. I hear strange noises at night (coming from the fridge and out side) and it sometimes scares me. One time I was practising piano and heard a sound that sounded like someone or a doll saying mama.. it scared the life out of me..
I used to believe moving was taking a saw to cut up your house, and carry your house to the street where you will live in.
I used to believe pedestrians were the thing that makes the microwave heat things.
i probably fell asleep, and i dreamt a lion in my room, everything was realistic in dream so i haven`t realize when i woke up, so i just started running to tell my mom that there is a lion in the room. i believed for many years later that the lion was really there.
When I was about 11, my mom & dad bought me an Avril Lavigne poster and a Justin Timberlake poster. Both of them were in black and white, and Justin and Avril were both frowning in the posters.
Everytime I got ready to go to bed, I stared at the posters and they looked so evil. I was afraid to go to bed, because I thought that their eyes would start darting across the room randomly. Creepy...
I used to think that in the hallways, some black creature would come and chase me if I didn't run to my next destination.
Sitting to close to the TV you'll go blind
