My grandparents used to have a picture of a tiger hanging in their hallway. I used to believe that the tiger would stare at me as I passed by. Everytime I passed by the picture I would stare back because I was afraid that if I looked away the tiger would jump out of the painting and eat me.
i always wondered how 'stuff' got its name. i imagined god sitting on a stool next to a pile of 'stuff' with a few angels scratching their heads in wonder. they would pick up an item and declare, "this will be called toilet paper" and "from now on this is a pan" and "this is taffy and it is sweet".
when i was smaller and had the fan on, the curtains would move, and i could swear i had magical powers that could move stuff, but only curtains cuz they werent heavy
My mom once told me that if I talked into the box fan(to make my voice sound funny) that the motor would overheat and it would explode. I believed that until I was about 15.

UNTIL I WAS ABOUT NINE AND A HALF I BELIEVED THAT A LITTLE ITTY BITTY PENGUIN LIVED IN THE BACK OF THE REFRIDGERATOR AND THAT HE GAURDED THE FOOD. I EVEN THOUGHT HE WAS THE ONE WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHT WHEN YOU SHUT THE DOOR. EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE I WOULD TRY TO CATCH HIM TURNING IT OFF. I JUST COULDNT FIGURE OUT HOW HE DID IT.

Our carpet was actually made up of all different squares. I made up this ritual where I HAD to hop, skip, and jump into or around them in a certain pattern or "something bad would happen." Never found out what the something bad was, 'cause I always followed the rules. Freaky, huh?
I used to believe there was a little man in the fridge who turned the light on when you opened the door
I used to believe that a person could fall into shadows. There was one really scary shadow at my grandma's house that extended across the sidewalk when it got dark out and the porch light went on. I had to very carefully jump over it everytime I left her house, and I didn't dare try to cross it if I was alone.
i used to believe that, like in the line of
the song"yesterday""all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they're
here to stay"i thought that your troubles
would stay at your home in physical form.

My brother used to believe that potatoes were poisonous and if he found one in his room, it was a sure sign that his his room was haunted. My other brother pretended to be a doctor and diagnosed the patient with a rare case of 'potatophobia' which had to be treated immediately with a series of antidotes involving the potatophobic brother tidying the doctor's room for over a month. He was so scared out of his wits he agreed to do it. I used to put potatoes in his room just to see him shriek. I highly regret it now.
When I was little, my parents had this big leather cushion, about four by four foot. One day, my dad stood it up on one side and put me on it to 'ride'. At the time, i really enjoyed it but for some reason I really took against it after that and imagined that it was some sort of monster that wanted to 'get' me when it was positioned that way. It even had a name - 'a humbly'. For some reason, probably because i'd named it, my parents thought I liked it and put it in my room. I didn't sleep for weeks with that thing in there. They still have it and to this day it still gives me the creeps a little when stood up on its side.
I used to believe that if i turned the light off or touched the floor at night i would fall into a bottomless pit in the floor....
