when i was little i used to believe that when you got directions from someone over the phone, instead of just writing it down, i thought a little piece of paper with the directions on it came out of the phone.
my best friend had one of those doorbells that you have to turn that works like a bell on a bike... he once told me that when i rang his doorbell, if i didnt leave the ringer dead straight the door wouldnt open. i still to this day turn all the doorbells like that i ring dead straight although i know now he was lieing
I used to believe the sump pump at my friend Pete's house would cut off your hand or foot or what ever else you put in there (at least that's what his dad told us).
a draft was like a dust storm and you'd get showered with dust going everywhere. I'd even have dreams about it.
I convinced my sister that the city water turn-off valves underneath a metal plate in my grandmother's yard were places for the water man to collect on my grandma's bill and I even got my sis to put some change down there to help my maw-maw with the bill. Problem was, I eventually convinced myself it was true as well...
When my cousin was young, I convinced him that a pointy spear from a BBQ grill set was actually a sword, and that I stole it from Captain Hook. Fortunately for my cousin, he's not as gullabe today.
When I was 10 our guest room dore was always shut and locked. I always thought that there was someone in there but i didn't know who. Thankfully there was never anyone there. I was always scared.
I believe that fairies are real. My grown up friend told me
That if i sit in the garden with no one els, and sit there for an hour they would come out. But i did not see anything yet.
I used to believe that you could get sucked into the vacuum cleaner if you got too close! I would get scared and scream whenever my mom would vacuum, thinking that I would get sucked into it!!
I used to think that tiny dust particles would only show up in the sun and the sun wanted me to eat them for breakfast or something. I'd "eat" them and I wouldn't feel hungry anymore!
When i was a kid i thought a puncture repair outfit was something that you wore
I used to believe that if I jumped on my bed for too long, I would turn into a monkey and DIE!
Stemming from the three little monkeys song i guess...
In movies, I always saw people sharpening knives and testing out the sharpness by running their finger along the edge. Somewhat inspired, I decided to try this with the big kitchen knife. I probably ran my finger for a couple of inches before cutting my finger. I ran water down my painful, bloody finger. Washing it with soap hurt even more. I learned something new that day. Strangely enough, my friend told me she does that all the time and never cut herself. I was a dumb 13 year old
Whenever I went downstairs to get a pair of socks, I used to belief that there were ghosts down there(I found this creepy picture of my great great great(I think) grandma.) I always shut the door really fast and prayed. I thought that if I didn't pray for myself, they would've gotten me by now!
I was 7 when the Oklahoma city bombing happened and I saw it on the news alot. For about a month I was afraid to leave the house because I thought someone would bomb it when I was gone. Also, I think it was around the same time, after watching Jurassic Park I kept expecting a dinosaur to bite the roof off of my bedroom whie I was asleep (After all, the movie proved that we could clone dinosaurs now - or so I thought - It was only a matter of time till they escaped and found my house!)
When i was little me and my sister thought that in one part of the wall if we tore it out we could go to chubby land and have those little Chubby pops and cotton candy and junk food... if only it was all real. We spent alot of time down there trying to tear up one little board in the wall but when my dad found out he put a nail in it. I was so dissapointed.
I used to belive if I said where I wanted to go in the house before I sleep,my dream would take me there somehow. But now I know that It was my parents moving me around!
When i was in my tween years and started using a curling iron, my brothers made me believe that if i left the house without turning the curling iron off, it would explode and burn our house down. Then i realized that it had a self power OFF option and wanted to slap my brothers in the face for worrying me to death!!
I used to believe that the plastic cups in my house had a family of cups and they did'nt like to be on the same shelf in the cupboard as the glasses because they kept to themselves. ha
I used to believe that when I was a kid that the white blown stuff on the ceiling was shiny because it was glass. Because of this I thought bad guys could look down through the ceiling and spy on me.
