When i was younger i used to believe by pushing the red bulb on a glass temperature the temperature would rise. so one day i was curiouse and decided to press it as hard as i can, and guess wat, it broke i ran around screaming thinking i was bleeding to death because of the red fluid, suddenly i got hot(because i was in fear) then once the hospital guy came he inspected my thumb for glass then wrapped it up like a plum.after that i promised myself i would never do that again, a month later i found the truth luckilly.
As a kid, I believed duct tape was in fact called "duck tape," although I don't think I ever tried to rationalize that with any bizarre belief.
I used to believe that the washing powder than my mum bought Persil or similar..... was just used by her and when I found out it wasnt i was most upset and didnt want my clothes washed again.... I smelled very bad at aged 7
I used to believe that you could hit glass with a hammer and it would turn into wood in a circle where the hammer head hit it! It was from when we were getting our house added onto.
When I was about five years of age I had my own room and I still wasn't used to sleeping withought my mother...and in the middle of the night I would have to pass by my kitchen to get to my mom's room and on the way there I would see my kitchen trash can and I thought of it as a monster that would eat me because the top swung open and close. So I would scream and bang on my mom's door so the trashcan wouldn't eat me!

I used to belive that imprints of past experiences were visible on the walls of my grandparents upstairs apartment where we used to live. for example, plane crash victims faces could be seen in the cracks of the wall because maybe a plane crashed right where my grandparents house was now standing.
Little men hid inside the refridgerator to turn on and off the lights.
Hasn't anyone mentioned the little people who lived in the back of the T.V. yet ???
One time we'd had something or other, and my dad asked me to put it back in the "icebox". I grew up in a more modern era and didn't know that term. I guessed it must be the freezer because the freezer was rather box-shaped, and it had ice in it(we had the kind of refrigerator most people do: with the freezer on top of the refrigerator; not the side-by-side model). Of course I wondered at the time why we would want to freeze it, but that was what my dad said, so. . .
Later my dad was looking in the REFRIGERATOR, wondering where that stuff was. He asked me where it was; I said, "I put it in the icebox, like you asked me to" and opened the FREEZER to show him. So then he had to expain archaic terminology.
A very long time ago, people used to have to buy large blocks of ice they would put in the refrigerator to keep things cool (there was no built-in cooling system in those days), so a lot of people called it the ice box.
in our kitchen we have a "work top" - a suface where food is prepared, etc. when i was a kid i would sometimes be sat on the work-top, but i used to hate it, cos when i looked down it was one hell of a drop, and i thought "if i fall off i'll die!" even to this day i feel nervous when my 20 month old niece is sat on the worktop, though there is the three of us (me, my mum and sister) keeping near to her
When i was younger, i used to run in the corridor when the light was off because i tought a monster was going to attacked me
when I was about 4 years old I used to think there was a parallel dimension behind my fireplace
over the summer, if i didn't go to camp and stayed at home my mom would make me clean up and wash dishes everyday. i'd keep the house clean but i could not stand washing dishes. so i'd fill up the wash tub with soap and water (plenty of bubbles so you can't see the bottom) and put a few clean dishes on the other side to make it appear as if i had washed and dried the dishes. she was proud of me every night.
When i was younger i used to beleive that i lived in the back garden because i spent so much time out there. When anyone asked me "where do you live?" i used to always repliy "In the back garden" this happened till i was about 9!!!
I used to believe that laundry baskets were little race cars and I would sit in them and make the noises and pretend to steer the wheel.

When i was five i used to belive there are a gost in my bedroom and in my house.
When I was 9, my mum told me that some places on the attic floor would collapse if i even touched them and that I would fall to my death....I then fell against one of these boards and fainted from concussion. I woke up an hour later screaming, I died! I died! My parents were baffled. Duh.
I used to think "forced air" heating was "four stair" - somekind of multilevel system.
