When I was about 6, my grandmother told me I'd better not open the closet in her living room because the devil lived in there. I was so scared of opening that door and finding a portal to hell that even after she died, when I was 24, I still refused to open the closet, which I later learned contained quilts and pillows.
When I was young there was a small door in the back of my closet that opened into the attic. To keep me out of there, my grandfather would tell me that if I went between the wooden slats where the insulation was, that I would fall straight into the furnace and burn up. That was enough to keep me out of the attic!
I used to believe that the government had camera guys hidden in my closet and if i said anything mean about anyone it would play on Tv for the world to see
When I was about 10 years old, I watched the first Ghostbusters movie for the first time. I believed in two strange things after that. I believed that Gozer was hiding in my closet and was waiting to pop out and kill me, and I also believed that all of the Ghostbusters were in love with me and they were fighting with each other to marry me. Please don't ask, I don't know why...
When I was little, I had a fear of closets. I thought that my bedroom closet had skeletons in it who would drop stuff in my ears at night that would make me their mind-control slave.
i used to believe that my favourite book character lived in my wardrobe but was invisible so i would scare my mom when she heard me talking to myself in the wardrobe!! lol :)
When I was young I was afraid to leave closet doors open and walk by open closet doors because I thought miniature people lived in them and would kidnap me if I did.
I used to think that the DJ from the TV show WKRP lived in my closet. I didn't know his name so I just called him WKRP and he was SCARY!
After watching the TV version of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe I really believed that my wardrobe would miraculously open up to another world. I tried going in there several times and knocking on the wood before I gave up!
my sister told me (and i believed her) that santa's reindeer were living in her closet and he loaned them from her once a year!
i used to believe there was a boogy man so when i was like 5 i would shut the closet door so if he came it would give me more time to get out of my room because he had to open the door.
I used to practice the piano in my grandma's apartment in the basement of our house. I believed that if I played a wrong note, a lion would burst out of the closet door and attack me. But when I did play a wrong note and nothing horrible happened, I figured it would take two wrong notes. And after two wrong notes, it would take three, etc.
I have always thought (and still believe this), that a monster who feeds on fear lives in my closet and if he scares me I won't be able to sleep again. The weird part is my 2 ways to avoid him, fall asleep before 12:15AM or cover myself in blankets and sheets 'cause I think the monster is allergic to the stuff blankets and sheets are made of
as a child my sister and i shared a bedroom and at the bottom of her bed was a huge brown wardrobe, and the only way i could get out of our room was to climb over her bed. well one evening i was about to climb over her bed to go to the toilet when she told me that if i climb over her bed gost and monsters would fly out at me and take me into the wardrobe and would never be seen again. needless to say i never got up to pee

I always insisted on having my closet doors closed when I went to bed. That's because I believed that there were dead bodies attached to my clothes hangers, and when it got dark you could see them, even though they didn't show up if it was light. I had a really vivid imagination, so if the door got left open I could actually see the corpses wearing my dresses.
I truly believed that the devil lived in my closet at night. I remember being more annoyed than angry. I didn't understand why he had to live in MY closet of all places!

When I was young, my father sat with me and watched the movie 'Poltergeist'. The movie convinced me that my closet was a portal that would suck me in randomly, so i used to tie my ankles to my bedposts. When my mom asked me why i did it, i told her i didnt want to die in the abyss. To this day i have never seen a more puzzled look on her face.

I used to believe that if I farted enough, that the vampires and monsters in my closet wouldnt want to come out and eat me, because I was smelly.
I also thought if I was super messy, then they wouldnt want to eat me. Gee how cool was I? Dirty messy room, full of farts. Hey I never got eaten though!
