I used to believe there was a monster living in my bedroom closet. At night, if the door was opened, I thought I could see him looking at me, just waiting until I fell asleep to come get me. Funny that he also looked like Frankenstein's monster!
I believed in monsters under the bed and in the closet. When I was 4 or 5, I grew very tired of this fear- so I decided that the monsters under my bed were actually friendly (by my fiat)and protected me from all the other night terrors. When I needed to get up for water or to pee, they would form a sort of invisible 'honor guard', slithering along in the shadows and dark to protect me. After I decided this was how things 'really' were, I always relished walking in the dark and shadows whether I was inside or out.
top belief!
When I was little, my younger sister had a dream about a giant,child-eating, rainbow-haired baby with razor sharp teeth called the Yum-Yum boy. We believed that it lived in our older brother's closet and that if we flushed the toilet, it would wake up and get us. Because of this, we used to go to the bathroom together (so as not to have to flush twice) and get ready to sprint down the stairs once the handle was depressed.
When I was younger, I believed that this very large baby lived in my brother's closet and that he ate everything in sight. He name was the "yum-yum boy" and he haunted my dreams. It was also my belief that when the toilet was flushed, the yum-yum boy would come out of the closet and eat me. Whenever I went to the bathroom, I would prepare to run down the stairs as fast as I could as soon as I flushed the toilet. I'm still here....
I am only 13 years old and I remember my belief quiet vividly. When I was about 6 or 7 I had a twin bed, but I was afraid that the "monsters" came out of my closet at night when i was sleeping. The "monsters" would come out to tickle me while I was asleep; so I would never fall asleep without the covers on my feet and I would always fall asleep in the exact middle of my bed so they wuoldn't be able to reach me. For some reason I can't fall asleep with my feet out of the covers or if I'm not sleeping in the middle of the bed to this day.
When I was young, I used to beleive that ghost/monster really exist.I had a big closet facing to my bed. Every night i was afraid to turn off the light, because i felt like there's an eyes watching me....
As a child, I believed that if I kept the wardrobe door open, anybody could see me at night. This was until I was 17
I used to think that the dog-thing from Ghostbusters was hiding in the closet across from my bedroom door...oh and that Big Foot, in the course of his travels through Washington state, would somehow stumble across my house, and make his way into my bedroom... I'd always freak out right before I went to sleep, imagining what it would be like if I woke up in the night to see him towering over me in my little room!!!
My mom used to store old toys, baby clothes and other random things on the top shelf of my bedroom closet. I used to believe that there was a whole world of things up there and had many dreams where my brother and I would sneak up and play around. The space would be so big in my dream that we could walk around and discover all the great things we had up there. It wasn't until we moved (when I was 10) that I was actually able to see it was just school papers, christening outfits and old games. What a disappointment.
I and my brother were frightened by thunder at a very early age. My mom chided us saying it was just a silly black cloud. That started it. We didn't have a boogey man in our household, we had the "Silly Black Cloud" hiding in closets waiting to devour us. He'd come out during thunderstorms and search for us. I finally read a science book (I was 11 years old!) that described what thunder really was. No more Silly Black Cloud, may he rest in peace.
I used to believe that there was a ninja living on top of my wardrobe who would jump down at night and chop my arms off if I got out of bed. I also thought that if I let any of my arms or legs hang over the edge of my bed, they would be bitten off by lobsters!
Ever since I was little I swore that there were monsters in your closet and under your bed. If anything was left out in your room they would eat it in the middle of the night. There were nights when I would sleep with EVERY stuffed animal I owned just to make sure they wouldn't get eaten...
As a child I used to loose things a lot and I was convinced that there were 3 tiny Arab men living in the closet of our spare bedroom. They would take stuff from around the house and hide it in the closet, but I was always too afraid to go into the closet and retrieve it.
I still loose a lot of stuff but haven't figured out where these men are or where they are hiding my stuff!!
When I was little I used to believe that there was a colony of small friendly dragons living behind the wardrobe in my bedroom - they were maybe a foot high, and slim, with pointy noses and tiny little wings which didn't work - and they would come out into my bedroom at night, but go back between the wardrobe and the wall in the morning.
When I was younger I always believed that there were monsters in your cupboard that came out in the middle of the night to get you....even to this day I cannot sleep with the cupboard door open...even a little bit.
When I was little, my father told me that the holes in Swiss cheese were made by the Swiss Navy doing target practice. I had also been terrified of the Ganannywhoppers in my bedroom wardrobe. At age 7, my parents took me to Switzerland on a holiday. We put the wardrobe back into my bedroom a few months later and he never tried to dupe me again.
i used to believe there were monsters in my closet, because my brother damian told me so. then one night i left the closet door open, and no monsters came out
my brother and i shared a bedroom when we were little. one night when he wanted me go to sleep he told me that if i didnt the wardrobe would come alive and get me. i had no memory of this until i mentioned years later i had a dream about getting eaten by a wardrobe. his story had warped my little mind!
