I used to believe that if i turned the light off, and spent too much time dawdling to get to my bed, or if i spent too much time under my bed, spiders would come and rip my legs off (this was AFTER i'd watched the movie Arachnophobia)
i could never have my feet dangling over the edge of the bed, because a little man would wait and see if my toes slipped over. if they had, he would run by with a knife to chop them off.
top belief!
When I was 3 or 4, I believed that Kermit the Frog was waiting at the foot of my bed with an axe, and would chop off my toes if I let them hang over the edge.
When I was about 5 my older brother who was 8 at the time would tell me that little gnomes lived under my bed. So every night I would try to talk to them. I would say "Hello" and then I would hear a little voice saying "Hello" back. It wasn't until I was about 6 when I found out that it wasn't any Gnomes it was my brother under my bed pretending to be them!
top belief!
When i was a kid, my Dad would tell me that the monster under the bed was going to get me if I was bad.
My Mom said if I left out some cookies by the bed, it would leave me alone. Well my Dad would come in at night and eat the cookies. That would only scare me more. I asked him why the monster would eat the cookies. His answer would always be... well if you were bad that day, you were lucky to leave out the cookies so the monster would'nt get you.
Thanks mom and dad for driving me to zanex.
whenever my parents said that there was a boogyman in my room i actually believed them
but one night i saw shadows running about on my walls and from there my memory got a bit dodgy bu i can remember when i ran around the house
When I was young I shared a bedroom with my brother; his bed was on one side of the room and mine on the other. I used to beleive that there was a wolf (like in the three little pigs)under my bed and a wolf under his bed. The wolves each had a walkie-talkie and would radio to each other and report to each other what my brother and I were doing. What a wild imagination I had, but then again, didn't we all?
One night I kept getting out of bed so my mom came up and said that she let invisible aligators out on my floor all around my room so if I got out of bed they would eat me, but not her because she trained them. I believed her!
I was scared out of my wits and after that I never got out of bed untill morning(when she said she took them back to her).
One night I asked her to stop letting them out in my room, and all she said was, "You believed that?Oh,honey,I'm so sorry".
When I was probably 4, I had a little plastic toy of Stimpy, from Ren and Stimpy. One day the Stimpy doll fell through the crack between my bed and the wall. When I look into the crack to find it, it was always looking up. So I thought if I ever looked down the crack or put my hand by it, he'd eat me.
When I was little I used to think that freddy koogar (however you spell it) and the boogie man were best friends and had late night parties underneath my bed on occasional nights. What I was really hearing was my brother's loud music going from his room into mine.
i used to think there was monsters under my bed and ones that came in my room. i though the ones under my bed would grab my ankle and pull me under so i never stepped off my bed i jumped 2 feet away so they couldnt get me. for the other monsters i thought " i cant see you, you cant see me"... it was like a rule kinda thing i thought. i would hide under the hot cover sweating until i fell asleep thinkin they couldnt see me.
I would always play hide-and-seek with my sister, but i would NEVER hide under the bed. My sister once told me that there was an octopus just waiting for me to get in there and become sucked up. And I believed her! But one day, I fell asleep on the floor beside my bed, not-knowing that my sister pushed me under it! When I woke up, I screamed my head off but then i noticed- THERE'S NO OCTOPUS! But then I threatened my sister the next day for threatening me, that if you went under the bed, it will fall on you if someone sits on it. SHE FELL FOR IT!
When I was little my cousin told me that there was a pee monster and poop monster under my bed. SHe said that when no one was in the room they would come out and make baby pee/poop monsters and the sheets would be all poopy and drenched in pee and you wouldn't see them under your bed. I don't beleive this now
When i was 8, we went trick-or-treating, and my dad wore this mask that made me cry everytime i saw it and one night after my parents forgot to put it in the addic, i slept with my parents czuse i was afraid of that mask and i looked over the edge and saw it. so from 8 years old to 10 i thought that mask was alive and in my parents room...i stayed out of that room for 2 years...
When I was younger, for some odd reason I thought that there was huge rats under my bed and only came out at night so for a long time I was afride to get out of bed to use the bathroom cause I thought they would bite my feet.
I used to believe that rats were under my bed and only came out at night and you couldn't see them in daytime I was so scared at night. I have to idea why I thought that.
I used to believe there was a secret door to the gremlin world hidden under my bed
When I was 6 or 7 I thougt that sharks and alligators lived under my bed. I was so convinced that if I lifted my bedskirt I would be drowned and eaten alive by these creatures. One day my mom was cleaning and I saw her lifting the bedskirt. I closed my eyes and started screaming, in preperation for the meal I was about to become.
My uncle used to tell me the shoe-box under his bed had smurfs (cartoon characters) living in it. Unfortunatly he couldn't show me because they would disappear in the light. I spent hours whispering to them so they wouldn't get lonely. [I never did look in the box, OR find out what was in it!]
I used to believe there were lions under my bed who came out when it was dark and blocked the route from my bed to the door. If I bravely managed to cross the room (by jumping between bits of furniture, the rug etc) I believed there were more out in the hall between my room & the bathroom. There was a certain route I had to take across the carpet (it was only about 4 steps!!) in order to make sure I didn't get eaten
