When I was young I used to take a run a leap into bed because if I stepped I thought a hand would grab me and after watching a creepy film..... I thought a ghostly
rotten hand would grab my foot and a ghoulish monster would haul its self
up and attack me!! And when I watch horror films now I do it....
I used to believe there was a little old lady who lived under my bed and would nibble at my ear every night. Being one of the 4 girls out of my 11 cousins, the boys would pick on me; they made me truly believe this little old woman lived under my bed and I was absolutely terrified of her.
When I was little I had a very vivid imagination. I used to think that there was a little dwarf who lived near my nightlight, a strange witch couple who lived in my closet, a three headed dog and mice who lived under my bed. It made for sleep being quite difficult.
When I was young I thought a giant slug lived under my bed and that it if any of my toys fell on the floor it would suck them up.
If I hid under my covers in strange positions, i would look like wrinkles in my bed - causing robbers or murders to miss seeing me.
Till I was about 10, i thought that if I left one of my body parts over the bed in the night while I was sleeping, a hand would come out and pull me under!
When I was little, I was afraid to let my arm (or any other body part for that matter) hang down the side of my bed while sleeping because I thought gremlins would pop out and bite it.
After seeing the movie The Little Mermaid, I was totally convinced for about a month that Ursula was going to come out from under my bed and wrap her tentacles around me. I slept with my arms to my sides and my legs locked together so she couldn't reach.
top belief!
When i was little, my parents had a water bed. Everytime my dad would have to add more water, i would go and hide under my bed because i thought an alligator lived inside my parents waterbed and that it would get out and eat me.
When I was younger I would think that there were bugs in the pillows because I could sometimes hear some weird crawling like noises in the pillows when would lay down. It freaked me out so bad because I would just imagine those bugs crawling into my ears.
My sister told me that if I slept with my feet out from under the covers these little wolf like creatures would come along and bite off my toes.
I used to believe that there was little trolls and monsters under my bed and in my closet. SO i would make my blankets really messy to make them look like no one was under them and I would make a tiny space in the blanket so i can peak and breath out of it if it got stuff under the blanket. I thought that if i layed still and it looked like no one was in bed, they would leave and bother other kids at night. I tricked them everytime!
I used to believe that there was a toe monster that lived under my bed and would eat my toes if i hung them over the side of the bed. Thanks to my uncle that would tell me scary stories. and to this day, i still dont hang my feet off the side of the bed, just out of habit.
I used to believe there was a zombie in the corner of my bed where a lump was. I thought it was just waiting to eat my brains in my sleep. Needless to say, I ended up in my mums bed for the night.
I used to believe that I would have to eat the stuffing out of my blanket or throw it down under the bed as an offering to the Blah Monsters so they wouldn't get me.
I used to sleep in the directly in the middle of my bed because I was afraid there was an octopus under my bed. For some reason I assumed his tentacles couldn't reach the middle of the bed.
when i was little, i didn't have an under my bed. instead, i had drawers down there. when i got a new bed (i got to big for that one) i always thought that a stuffed dog i have named Tanner created a force field around me monsters could not get through. i always went to sleep with the thought of sad, dissaponied monters not getting to me. i woke up the next day and laughed at them.
I used to believe there were two men in suits and bowler hats under my bed whose sole purpose in life was to catch a glimpse of my arms or legs. I NEVER let my arms or legs out from under the covers.
Thanks to my brother, I feared many things. One being that someone or something was hiding in any corner or any nook or cranny in my bedroom. I thought witches lived in my closet and behind the curtains. Also, gun wielding midgets hid under my dresser waiting to shoot my ankles.
I was CONVINCED that there was a huge, slobbering grizzly bear living either under my bed or just out of sight in my closet. He would never be seen during the day because, naturally in my childish mind, he was noctural. DUH. So to cope with the terror bear, every night, I would go through the motions to avoid bear attacks. I would control my breathing and play dead for as long as I could. Then I would eventually drift into sleep, only to repeat the procedure the next night.
