At the age of 4 I used to get in trouble for writing and coloring on the walls.
So, I used to crawl under the bed and draw montsers which were just stick men drawing.
Before bed time I told my mother that there were monsters under my bed.
and when she left my room and turned out the light, I would run out and sleep on the floor in the living room o.
Due to the movie Poltergeist and how the clown doll grabs the brother and pulls him into the other dimension under the bed, I spent years leaping from my doorway to my bed. I'm 27 and still do this sometimes.
This also led to my long-standing (still-standing) fear of clowns. It's the unnatural smile, I think. To this day I can't stand 'em.
I used to believe that if I left my toenails and fingernails exposed at night while sleeping, that a monster would crawl out from under the bed and eat them. I had to have my hands and feet tucked under the blankets. If I didn't feel like having my hands under the blanket, I'd fall asleep with my hands in fists so the monsters couldn't get my fingernails.
I have no explanation for this belief. I was a strange child.
I used to believe that the monsters in my room couldn't see me at night
as long as I remained perfectly still and pulled my covers up to my neck;
my sheet and blanket made me invisible to them (somehow they couldn't
see my head -- lucky thing, too, in the interests of breathing). I slept with
my arms under the covers for years, even in the middle of July.
this is a little weird, but i used to think that there was a guy under my bed with a sword and that he might shiskabob me through the mattress in the middle of the night. so, to improve my chances, i slept on my side instead of flat on my back
When I was small I utterly convinced myself that the only way I was safe from the monsters under my bed (or in my closet) was to hold on tightly to the "magic silky" edging on my blanket.
Imagine my terror when I went to bed to find out that Mom had replaced my usual blanket with one that no longer had the "magic silky" edging.....I thought she wanted to get rid of me!
i used to believe that a band of evil little gnomes lived under my bed, and if any of my limbs were exposed (out of the covers) they would march up onto my bed and stick giant pins (that theycarried like spears) into my arm or foot. I think this started because my foot fell asleep one night (pins and needles) while I was dreaming...
I used to believe that there was a little man under my bed behind a big control bord(like the wizard of oz) and he contorled long arms that would grab me and drag me under...i still jump into my bed when its dark.
I would always hide under the covers when I was little becasue I thought coyotes, bears and wolves would jump in my window and eat me, but if I hid under the covers I would be safe.
Then as I grew a bit older, I thought a family of cobras lived under my bed. I even drew a picture of them in first grade. We had to draw a picture of ourselves in bed thinking, and I had to add the snakes since I was so sure they were there. I was scared to get into bed at night because I thought that while I was crawling into bed and one foot was still on the floor, the snakes would bite me.
The last monster I thought existed was a fat little witch who floated above my head. If I didn't cover my head with the covers within 2 seconds of when I turned out the lights, she would send down her pet spider and another snake, and they woudl crawl in bed with me and eat me. i'm still terrified of spiders.
I used to believe that there were tickle torture people that would get you when you were sleeping with your under arms or bottom of your feet exposed!
I use to be afraid (I still don't like to do it) of letting me feet hang off the bed. I thought that if I did that something or someone would grab them in the middle of the night.
When I was little,I slept with my bed against the wall and never let my arms hang over the other side because I thought the Hamburgler (from the Mcdonald's commercials) was under the bed.I used to keep the closet door closed for the same reason.
when i was younger i thouth there was an alligator under my bed so i would run from the door and leap up onto my bed so that he would not be able to get me
I used to believe there were alligators under my bed. So I would run from the door way and jump on the bed, once on the bed, I was safe.
sometime i remember the flowers on my bedroom walls... nighttime they used to mouve around....
and under my bed there was such a thin place....
top belief!
i used to think that all the dust under my bed has always been eaten by a little monster... but, to tell the truth, my mother cleaned my room...
I always believed if I didn't say my bedtime prayers the Devil would come up from under my bed and get me in my sleep. Sometimes I was sure I could feel my bed shaking .
I used to believe that alligators lived under my bed so when I went to bed I would run and jump quickly so they wouldnt grab my ankles
When my sister and I were little, we called every area that was dark and scary "Crocodile Creek" after seeing Peter Pan, especially the area between our beds. I have to have my feet and hands on the mattress to this day, or at least have them wrapped in a sheet to protect them from the crocodile and/or Captain Hook.
i believed in things under my bed, but covered my fears. my little brother was more afraid as we shared the room. To compensate, I would have my play army soldiers and tanks positioned at strategic places around the room targeting all the exit points under our beds. that way, if any monsters or such came out, the army would take care of them. that really gave my brother a comfort on many nights. but it was not just for him. even today, i still thank the US Army for protecting us from monster that would come in the night.
