When I was 5, I believed I had to pretend I was asleep as soon as I got in bed because a monster (bigfoot like) would come around to check. If he saw you awake through the window, he'd attack you. I could even hear the footsteps on the leaves outside of the bedroom. I later discovered this was the sound of my heartbeat in my ear against the pillow.
I used to believe that if I put a mouse trap under my bed it would trap the monsters I just knew were there. The only thing it ever caught was the edges of my blankets
I used to believe if I fell asleep with my arm hanging off the edge of the bed,
a tiger would come along and eat it.
I used to believe that before I went to bed at night I had to cover up anything in my room that was red, or the devil would get me. Also I thought all my dolls could see me at night so I would cover their heads and put them in the back of the closet.
I used to be afraid to stretch my feet to the end of the covers because I thought Kermit the Frog would bite my toes because he slept down there.
When I was a little girl I believed that the green shaggy throw rug next to my bed was an alligator (but only at night when the lights were off)
once i looked under my bed and a flash of lightning came. Ever sine then i wouldnt look under my bed as i thought lightning would come. Then one day i dropped something and it went under my bed. i started crying as i was so scared. my parents freaked when i told them why i wouldnt look under my bed.
when I was young my mother told me that when I heard noises from my bed that it was just the "squeaks" in my bed(she meant to say my bed was squeaking) so until I was about 7 I would have night terrors about these starfish like creatures that squeaked
There were wasps between my bed and the wall. I couldn't let my hand droop down there or I'd get stung. I don't know when I decided there were wasps there, but I still cringe a lil when my hand falls into that lil crack.
I used to believe after watching a scary movie, that the devil would pop out from under my bed and grab me! It's funny now.....but at the time, wasn't so funny. I had countless nights w/out sleep. LOL! =)
When I was younger I used to think there were monsters under all the funiture at my home. When I went to my own bed I would climb and never touch the ground,I was sure they'd crab me and pull under the bed.Sometimes I still am
Whn I was little I would sleep without any cover on me..so I would often get sick. One day I saw that my mom had a little cut at her leg. When I asked her what happened she said that "The Old Lady" cut her.So I found out that if you sleep with your feet not covered, an old lady will come and cut your fingers with a razor.Today,I can't sleep without something to cover my toes.
Sometimes, at night, since my vision was fuzzy from the dark, it would make all the cat pictures on my wall look like they were moving. This lead me to believe that once I fell asleep, they would jump out of the pictures and prowl my room until morning, when they'd go back to a lifeless existance in the square, framed "holes" in my wall. In fact, they still look like they move, but I know it's just an optical illusion from the lack of light.
that mice lived in my pillow,at night i could hear them moving about ,i laid very still so they wouldnt know i was there ,i told my mom and she took me to the doctors and i had to tell him about the mice.
When I was six, I believed that someone's amputated arm was under my covers at the bottom of the bed. I was sure that it would grab me around the ankles and drag me off some where. I slept with my knees bent and tucked under my chin for over a year.
I used to wake in the middle of the night believing that there were coyotes under my bed waiting to get me if I got out of bed. I was to scared to get up and run downstairs to my parents room.
I used to believe that the shadows on my ceiling would congregate during the night to form this dangerous shadow-creature named “The Beam”. I would always have to sleep with the light on because the Beam would get me if I didn’t have the light on.
I used to believe a lion lived under my bed (but only after dark of course)and as I didn't have a bedside lamp I had to switch the light off at the doorway to my room and then try to jump to my bed ( which was against the opposite wall) the second I turned the light off. My heart would be in my mouth and I would have to lie there for some time to calm down before I could even think of going to sleep. I think the lion still lives there.....BUT I DON"T.
When I was little and I went to sleep everynight I used to think their were snakes and spiders at the end of my feet so I used to scrunch my legs up as high as I could and sleep in a tiny ball
Until I was 10, I believed that my pillow was
shouting to me (when my father said so) that I should come to him (it?) and sleep. My pillow was truly alive. I always ran to my pillow without hesitation, and must have been an exemplary child.
