When I was about six, I used to believe there was a snake under the quilt at the bottom of my bed. I used to sleep curled up so not to kick it. My dad (not knowing about this) hid a rubber spider at the bottom of my bed on night. When I touched it with my foot, I threw it across my bedroom and screamed my head off!!!
When I was little, my brother told me that an evil knight rode around cutting off hands and feet that were out of the covers. To this day i still sleep entirely covered up... :)
I was convinced that indians lived in the space between the wall and my bed and that if I ever got too close to the wall the indians would come and shoot me with arrows. I fell out of bed alot.
I used to believe that there were demons under my bed, so when it came time to get in I would take a running leap so that anything under there couldn't grab my legs.
Sad thing is, when I watch scary movies at night, I find myself doing it again. I'm 26. I'll hang my head in shame now.
When I was little I couldn't let my back face the room in bed because I thought that the skeletons underneath my bed would poke my bottom with needles. Even at 14 I can't sleep with my back facing the room (not for that reason)
When I was little I used to help my mom change the sheets on my bed and every time I'd see that little tag on the end of it. One night I got curious as to what was on it so I pulled the sheets up and read it. Among other things it read: DO NOT REMOVE. Upon further investigation I found that both my parents' and my brothers' mattresses said the same thing. Therefore, for some odd reason, I concluded that if you ever removed those tags some kind of government people (I don't know, the FBI or maybe IRS) would come and arrest you. I believed this for many years.
Come to find out, me and my dad were talking the other day about my new mattresses when he told me one of his childhood beliefs... I was amazed to hear my own beleif about the mattress tag be repeated by father, as his own when he was that age! Wierd family paranoia I guess, haha!
I used to believe that if you didn't go to sleep before the "tooth fairy" came that she would put a spell on you so that your teeth would fall out, and i also had a belief that my feet would need to be covered in bed so that the monsters under my bed couldn't eat them .. lol I still wake up and put my covers over them so the memory still stick =)
When I tried to go to sleep, my eyelashes would rub against my pillows and make a slight scratching noise. I thought it was a small ant army going after me on my pillow. o.O
I used to belive that when I was sleeping at night little turtle-heads (yes, just the heads) would bite off my toes. But that's only because my father told me so every night.
when i was 7(ish) i used to believe that a hedghog man lived under my bed bed an if my feet and or hands were poking out of my cover he would drag me under the bed and take to me this underworld place that was filled with lakes! i had to jump on to my bed for years... i think it had something to do with a progrmmme about gruesome fairy tales
When I was in preschool, I took ballet. Around Christmas time, my teacher decided to give us a special treat and tell us a story. It was about if you were a naughty little girl that if you fell asleep with your feet over the end of the bed, the rats would eat your feet off. I went home, fearing going to sleep, and stayed awake crying. I have many times been told that this was not true, but still, I CANNOT have my feet over the end of my bed. Thanks for the mental scarring, lady.
i used to think there was a portal to another demention under my bed becase when i put stuff under my bed they wouldnt be there tommarow.
then i found out it was my do taking and moving the stuff to our laundry room (i wasnt alowed there at the time)
i used to believe that if i crawl under my bed i would be locked in. like a jail.
I saw a heartwarming movie about a kid and wolves, but because I was deaf I misunderstood it, thought it was terrifying, and thought wolves lived under my bed and would eat my feet if I got out of bed at night. My mom gave my windex to spray as wolf repeller, which seemed to work pretty well. Nearly 30 years and still no wolves under the bed.
When I was a child and played with my sister we used to believe that the toys could talk when we weren't watching
I also had the "cover-your-neck-with-the-blanket-to-ward-off-monsters" belief, but as an added twist I also had to keep my arms under the pillow at all times so they wouldn't be chewed by the wolves and crocodiles that prowled my room at night.
I used to believe that if I didnt cover at least my neck vampires would come and suck my blood out. At the same time if I didnt cover my arms I believed witches would cut them off at exactly midnight and use them for their stews. And if I surpassed them by covering my arms I believed I had to cover my feet so Aliens wouldnt cut them off and take them as shoes..
when I was little in my room I had a blue carpet and when I had scarey dreames I would want to go to my mom & dad but I was afraid that their was sharks floating around my bed so I was afraid to go to my mom & dad
I used to believe that there were 6 fat witches living uinder my bed. i was so afraid at night that i would jump from my door to my bed in fear that if i walked to close to the bed at night the witches would pull me under the bed and savagely attack me.
Whenever I went to sleep (I had long hair) I was always afraid to have my hair hang at the back or side of the bed and that It would get cut off. So I never let my hair hang anywhere..I was soo scared.
