I was seven when my older sister took me to see Hellbound Hellraiser II. I remember being so terrified by that movie that I had nightmares for months. I used to think that Pinhead was under my bed at night waiting to take me to hell. To this day, I can't watch that movie without being a little frightened, and I've never forgiven my sister for making me watch it the first time.
when i was young, i used to beleive that spiders and insects couldn't get to you at night if you kept both arms and legs on the bed all night.
even now, i don't let my legs hang over the edge.....especially in the dark
When I named all the bedposts on my bed "prettygoons" and covered them with socks or toys every night before going to sleep to keep them from coming to life and menacing me.
When I was very young, I used to think that the strange shapes in my bedroom at night were bees and other nasty insects coming to get me.
I used to believe that tiny men came to my bed at night and would cut off my feet unless i kept the covers tight tucked under my body. to this day i still sleep like that.
I used to believe that if I slept under my bed, the bad faeries couldn't get me, but if I slept on my bed they'd carry me away. I used to be so scared to even sit on my bed because of the bad faeries.
I also used to believe that if I threw something I didn't want onto my bed, the bad faeries would dispose of it for me.
I used to believe that under my bed there use to live small people and when I slept they used to take my stuff on my bed like (stuffed animals ect.)and play with them and when i woke up in the morning my stuff used to lie on the floor, and that used to frighten me alot, till today my feet are never open and my blankets never lie of the bed ever.
If I woke in the night I'd think there was a witch under my bed. I felt I had to feed her or she'd get me, so I'd pick my nose and drop it to her, or I'd comb my hair with my fingers and if any got pulled out I'd drop the hairs down to her. Then I'd fall back to sleep!
When I was little, I had to put my hair in a ponytail when I went to bed because I thought that we had mice in our house that wouldl eat my hair!
I used to watch a lot of Winnie the Pooh with my little sister, and in one episode, Christopher shoves all his stuff under his bed and it gets sucked down into a place where toys that were left under the bed ruled. Of course, my little sister was afraid that her toys would become evil and always insists on cleaning up underneath her bed and mine to save them. Ahhh...gotta love children.
does anyone remember the crash test dummies that had commercials that told you to wear your seatbelts? i always feared those dummies, i thought they were under my bed or would come get me!
When I was little(and until now..im 13)
i used to think that whenever I slept on my bed,the boogeyman would put his thin finger through the holes of my headboard and pull my hair.Until today,i never put my hair close to the headboard
When I was 6, I thought there was a giant lobster under my bed, just waiting to grab me with his lobster claws and pull me under. My brother would always pretend that he was being pulled under my bed by the lobster. I was horrified!
When I was little my cousin told me that there was a pee monster and poop monster under my bed. SHe said that when no one was in the room they would come out and make baby pee/poop monsters and the sheets would be all poopy and drenched in pee and you wouldn't see them under your bed. I don't beleive this now
When I was about 5 my older brother who was 8 at the time would tell me that little gnomes lived under my bed. So every night I would try to talk to them. I would say "Hello" and then I would hear a little voice saying "Hello" back. It wasn't until I was about 6 when I found out that it wasn't any Gnomes it was my brother under my bed pretending to be them!
I have 2 older sisters and when i was young, i used to be able to hear them walking aroung outside my door. I used to think they were aliens (i blame the movie Mars Attack for that!) and whenever they went past i would pretend to be dead so they wouldn't zap me with their death ray.
Some nights my mum would come in to put away my clothes or something like that(when she thought i was asleep) and i would hold my breath for around 2 mins so the alien couldn't hear me.
One night i let out my breath with a long "paaaaaaah" sound and she came over to look at me. I screamed and ran out the door.
After watching "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" when I was about six, I climbed up to the top bunk of the bed and had a dream that a skeleton's hands crawled out from underneath my bed. Obviously, the episode I watched including a skeleton grabbing a little boy by the leg and trying to drag him underneath the bed. Needless to say for the longest time I would carefully climb onto the dresser and jump off to avoid being anywhere NEAR the floor under my bed.
I used to believe that there was a little troll with a jingle bell on his hat that lived in the walls of my bedroom. I thought he had little doors all over my room, and when I turned my lights off at night it would climb up my headboard and kill me. As you can imagine, I never went to sleep without 1 or 2 nightlights on.
But if I heard what sounded like a jingle bell, I would scream and hide under my covers till morning. Boy, was I stupid!
When I was a kid, I slept with my fists balled up because I thought if I didn't, E.T. would eat my fingers.
I had a really bad dream about some dark blob sitting at the end of my bed. I took an odd apporch to solving my fears by sleeping with my head at the foot of the bed. If it was going to eat me it would eat me, but I was not going to be able to witness this if it ate me head first. I slept this way well into my teens
