when i was liek 5, i believed that little aliens and crocadiles lived under my bed, and if my arm or something wasnt touching the top of my bed, they would come and bite it off!! i also thought that there were little leprechauns(lol i cant spell) lived in my shower, and when someone was taking one, they would hide in the toilet..lol this went on till i was 10...
When I was a child I was convinced that there were very large and angry monsters under my bed but they could only come out if the lights were off and they could only get me if my feet were touching the ground. I was fine all day until it came time for bed, where I would have to turn off the lights and walk across the room to the bed. I was sure the monsters would get me during this brief time of darkness, so I devised all sorts of ways to get from the light switch to the bed without touching the floor. I normally just jumped to the bed but when my bed was moved farther away I would place an object in the middle, climb on that and then jump to the bed (it was usually a small step ladder). Sometimes I would climb on my dresser and nightstand to avoid touching the floor. To this day I still don't like crossing a dark room so I turn on a light next to the bed, turn off the main lights and then get into bed and shut off the light within reach.
When I was young, I used to believe that there was a bear behind my bed. My dad had to come and check before I entered my room.
my mom and dad had friends that lived down the street from us. they had a son who was about my age (3-5 at the time)and they would often come over to visit in the evening. around 8 or 9 pm they would put us to bed in my full size bed to sleep while they stayed to play cards. one night he told me that there were wolves underneath my bed and that if i let my feet or arms dangle they would bite me. to this day i cant let any of my body parts hang off the side of my bed.
i used to believe that a snake lived along the bottom of my duvet and that if my feet poked out, it would bite them. to combat this i had the fold the duvet in around me like a cocoon. oh and big ted was the only person who could protect me in case the snake got in - i still sleep with him and i'm 27!
When I was 7-ish my older sister told me that if I didn't brush my teeth before bed that the springs in my bed would come up and stab me! I still get slighlty paranoid if i hear the springs in my be move.
I used to believe that there was a clown living under my bed, just like in Poltergeist, and if I let my feet or arms hang off the bed the clown would pull me under and eat me. To this day clowns still freak me out!
i always thought that all my toys had to be put away before i jumped into bed because if they weren't my bedroom floor would turn into a big lake when i shut the lights off i had to run and jump onto my bed because if my feet touched the floor at all the alligators would swallow me and my sister whole.
I would never get up at night to use the bathroom because I was convinced that a short fat man and a tall skinny man, who happened to be scientist, lived under my bed and when I got up they would try to give me a shot on my feet so needless to say I was a bed wetter for a long time and to this day I hate needles
When was about 4, I was sure that there were alligators living under my bed that came out at night and crawled around on the bedroom floor. What is really odd is that there were large storage drawers under my bed and nothing could possibly hide there.
When I was little I believed that there was someone with a knife always under my bed. If I were to sleep without the covers over me then he could get out from under my bed and kill me, but if I had the covers on, it was like a metal shield and he wouldn't be able to kill me. I still to this day will not sleep without covers!
When I was very young, I used to think there were monsters all over my floor in the dark, but they all died and disappeared when the lights came on. I would turn out the lights and RUN to my bed where I was safe before the monsters could respawn.
I used to put all of my stuffed animals on the left and right side of me when I went to bed. I thought that if rolled over to one side while I was sleeping the bed would tip over and the monsters under my bed could grab me. If the animals were there, I wouldn't roll over and the animals would get dragged down instead of me.
when i was 5 my bed was just an ordanary bed. it wasnt the sligtest bit high. still, for some strange reason, i used 2 think it was higher than the highest cliff ever.
when i got out of bed in the morning i used to hang on to the edge as if i was about to die despite the fact my knees were almost touching the floor.
sometimes i did a dramatic reascue with me hanging off the edge and my teddies pulling me up just in time.
i woke up one morning to find one of my beloved teddies had fallen off my bed during the night. i was deeply sad and held a little funeral.
i was always a freaky child.
I used to think if my blanket touched the ground that Satan would drag me into Hell while I was sleeping. I was a teenager before I'd actually let a blanket touch the ground.
From about 2 1/2 up to my teens even, I used to believe so strongly that ther were alligators under my bed and dogs at the foot of my bed. I would run and jump from the doorway of my room to the bed. Forget about getting up at night to go to the bathroom!!!! I would lay there and get myself all worked up into a sweat, my heart racing, and I swear I could here the alligators rustling under my bed.
My mom is a very spiritual lady, and used to tell me that I am extremly spiritual too, and could see ghosts.
For years I hallucinated a little boy (probably imagination) following me, such as seeing him rocking in a corner to himself, or in closets. My sister then learnt my unnatural fear of ghosts, and proceeded to tell me an old lady lived underneath my bed with glowing red eyes, and if I allowed anything to stick out of my bed she would grab me and pull me under. I then started collecting tedddy bears to make a circle around me to protect me from her and the little boy so they would reach up and grab teddies instead of me, and I would be safe. To this day, I still wont allow anything to get out from the covers for fear of her or the little boy (who my imagination still wont let up on, even going to the extremes where I sometimes can smell her perfume) and am still too afraid of the dark to allow my husband to turn of the light at night.
I used to think that there were ants that lived under my bed and that they made castles out of dust under my bed too. I would always run from my doorway and jump onto my bed so none of the ants would get on me.
i used to be scared of under my bed and thought that my cat became a monster only at night.
When i was small i watched a cartoon about vampires and i got so scared that i had to sleep with my blanket pulled up to my neck, and i still do it over a decade later.
I also used to think my teddies had feelings. Once i had a toy Husky dog and i had a dream that it bit me. It scared me so much that i put him in the corner of my bed, but because i thought he had 'feelings' i had to throw a blanket over him each night so he wouldnt get angry and bite me lol.
