Ever read Roald Dahl's "Dirty Beasts"? As a kid I was terrified of Sting-a-Ling, the scorpion that hid in your bed and then stung you on the bum. I would lie there rigid waiting for the sting...!

I never used to get out of bed as a kid. This was because I though there was a monster under there and if I got out they'd know I was there because somehow they didn't and that they'd drag me under my bed. I also used to stay very still.

To protect myself from monsters at night I had to be completely cover by some form of blanket. This made the monsters powerless to get me, if any part of my body was exposed then I was vulnerable.

I used to believe that a monster lived underneath the blankets at the foot of my bed and if I put my feet too far down it would bite my feet. I always slept near the top of the bed.

When I was little I used to sit on my bed and read, but because I thought there was something nasty under it I had to keep moving my legs so the nasty thing wouldn't be able to grab me.

What is it with beds? They're supposed to be a comfort zone!

i used to believe that there were monsters everywere but that they coulden't get me past midnight , so i always kept reading comics 'till midnight , and when my parents found out and made sure i coulden't stay up till midnight anymore , i always placed a toy-gun near my bed , thinking that if any monsters would come i would be able to blast them to hell with my toy-gun.

I believed that I could stop the monsters under the bed from coming to get me if I stuffed my blankets between my bed and the wall making a tight seal...

and every night I would run around my room grabbing all the stuffed animals and piling them up on top of me :D

When I was little and I went to sleep everynight I used to think their were snakes and spiders at the end of my feet so I used to scrunch my legs up as high as I could and sleep in a tiny ball

When I was six, I believed that someone's amputated arm was under my covers at the bottom of the bed. I was sure that it would grab me around the ankles and drag me off some where. I slept with my knees bent and tucked under my chin for over a year.

I used to believe a lion lived under my bed (but only after dark of course)and as I didn't have a bedside lamp I had to switch the light off at the doorway to my room and then try to jump to my bed ( which was against the opposite wall) the second I turned the light off. My heart would be in my mouth and I would have to lie there for some time to calm down before I could even think of going to sleep. I think the lion still lives there.....BUT I DON"T.

I used to believe if I fell asleep with my arm hanging off the edge of the bed,
a tiger would come along and eat it.

I used to believe that if I put a mouse trap under my bed it would trap the monsters I just knew were there. The only thing it ever caught was the edges of my blankets

I always believed if I didn't say my bedtime prayers the Devil would come up from under my bed and get me in my sleep. Sometimes I was sure I could feel my bed shaking .

At the age of 4 I used to get in trouble for writing and coloring on the walls.
So, I used to crawl under the bed and draw montsers which were just stick men drawing.
Before bed time I told my mother that there were monsters under my bed.
and when she left my room and turned out the light, I would run out and sleep on the floor in the living room o.

I used to believe that in the middle of the night a monster that looked like a red hand with a pair of scissors came and 'trimmed' off the blankets that would come untucked from the bed so I had to sleep in the very middle and not get close to the edges- even tho I was tempted to slip my feet into that cool part over the side where it was tucked in. I was well into my thirties before I 'defied' that old fear and made myself purposely sleep with my feet hanging over the side(I don't tuck the sheets and blankets anymore). But I still sometimes feel uncomfortable and will draw back to the center.
