I used to bite my nails when I was a child but my brother told me if kept doing that, I couldn't play the guitar because nobody could learn how to play it withouht long nails on the right hand. That's how I stopped this bad habit. Thanks to my older brother. :)

My father said to me: they are bacteria and eggs when you bite your nails. The eggs will go in your stomach and hatch into worms, eating any form you digested until you starved.
I told mum and she said that he was kidding but I should stop biting my nails.

This actually applies to my brother. My grandma said that if you keep on biting your nails and eat them, you will grow worms in your stomach.

When I was little, my Mom told me that if I kept biting my nails I would grow hands in my stomach. One day I asked her if that was the reason grandpa's stomach was so big.

I've always bitten my nails. When I was a little kid, however, I also swallowed the pieces of fingernail that I bit off. My grandfather told me that if I did that, a fingernail would start growing inside of me! So I soon stopped swallowing the nail pieces and instead started using the trash can.

I used to believe that biting my nails would cause my hair to turn the color that they happened to be painted. This helped me to stop biting my nails.

Thanks to my father, I believed that there was a limited supply of fingernail. Once that was gnawed off, my nail would no longer grow back. This by far worked way better than the hot sauce and and the bitter polish to get me to stop biting my nails.

When I was younger, I use to bite my finger nails until one day my mom told me that they would never grow back if I kept doing it. I believed her, and till this day, I have never bit my finger nails.

When I was 5 years old, my aunt told me if I didn't stop biting my nails, I'd get worms. The only kind of worms I knew of were earth worms. Terrified I would have a bunch earth worms growing in my stomache, I never bit my nails again.

When I was about 4, my mum told me that her dad bit his nails when he was a kid and that, after a while, they just gave up growing and never were a normal length again. It certainly stopped me from biting my nails, but it only occurred to me TODAY that it might not be true, so I googled it. If only I could say I was still relatively young or really dumb... but no, I'm a straight-A student in my GCSE year. If only I had been more cynical and disbelieving as a child...

I used to bite my nails a lot. Every time I got a stomachache, I would imagine the little crescents of my nails poking into the lining of my stomach. Unfortunately, I could never stop biting my nails.

My aunt told me when I was little that she had to have her appendix removed and it was full of fingernails & bubble gum, so don't ever chew your nails or swallow your gum. I believed her, so I never chewed my nails and panicked if I accidently swallowed my gum.

when I was little, my dad told me that if I continued to bite my nails, they would have to remove one of my organs because it would have a ton of little nail bits embedded in it. Scared me, but didn't stop me..

I used to believe that when you bit your fingernails a hand would grow in your stomach. And that when you ate the seed of a fruit that fruit would grow in your stomach. Needless to say, I didn't eat much fruit OR bite my fingernails!
