It's strange how you can justify your bad habits...I always believed biting my nails was the reason I'd never had a filling or tooth out at the dentists...something daft about fortifying my enamel with calcium...and that I should keep eating my nails for nutritional value...

When I was little, my Mom told me that if I kept biting my nails I would grow hands in my stomach. One day I asked her if that was the reason grandpa's stomach was so big.

When I was 5 years old, my aunt told me if I didn't stop biting my nails, I'd get worms. The only kind of worms I knew of were earth worms. Terrified I would have a bunch earth worms growing in my stomache, I never bit my nails again.

I've always bitten my nails. When I was a little kid, however, I also swallowed the pieces of fingernail that I bit off. My grandfather told me that if I did that, a fingernail would start growing inside of me! So I soon stopped swallowing the nail pieces and instead started using the trash can.

Thanks to my father, I believed that there was a limited supply of fingernail. Once that was gnawed off, my nail would no longer grow back. This by far worked way better than the hot sauce and and the bitter polish to get me to stop biting my nails.

I've had the habit of biting my nails since I was little, and one day, my friend's mom told me that if I kept biting them, a huge claw would grow out of my stomach. Surprisingly, that didn't stop me.

i used to bite my nails and when i was littler my mom did everything thing imaginable to make me stop(hoy sauce, tape, gloves ect.) but nothing worked! Then my dad told me that if i dont stop i will have to have surgery and get a big scare down my belly button that would be there forever! Then he would say see i used to bite my nails and look what happened to me, then he would lift up his shirt and show me this huge scar under his belly button! i stopped very shortly after! i later learned that that scar was actually from a car accident

My mother told me that if I bit my nails
the pieces would make holes in my stomach. I would stop for a while but pretty soon I would run to my mother and say" Feel my stomach. Are there any holes?" and she would know I was biting again.

I used to believe that when you bit your fingernails a hand would grow in your stomach. And that when you ate the seed of a fruit that fruit would grow in your stomach. Needless to say, I didn't eat much fruit OR bite my fingernails!
