biting my nails

I can't remember who it was, but when I was young, a family member told me that if I kept biting my nails I would eventually get appendicitis. It didn't stop me. I finally did stop about 5 years ago, but i wasn't because I lived in fear of a raputured appendix.

When I was 7 or 8 I had a terrible habit of biting my nails. One day my aunt said "If you keep biting your nails, the nail will get stuck in your stomach and you will have to have surgery right away before you die." I stopped.

when i waz lil, my mom told me that if i kept biting my nails i waz still getting sum of the nail into my stomach. she said overtime a ball of fingernail bits would grow in my stomach and i would have a huge lump. it took me awhile to realize it wasn't true and then i kept biting my nails...needless to say i made sure to never accidentely swallow

When I was little, my dad told my mom just for fun that if she bit nails, the nails would eat up her brain...Of course I didn't bite nails, but my brother did, and that was my explonation why he was so dumb.

When I was little, my Mothjer told me that if I chewed my nails, they would grow and grow in my stomach. You'd think this would have put me off, but I have never had unbitten nails - and I'm now 41!!

I use to bite my nails untill one day my mom said that my nails were going to stop growing and one day I would not have anymore nails to bite.Of course I stop and to this day I dont bite my nails.

My dad and his mom told me when i was 5 that when you bit your fingernails and swollow them that fishes would grow in your stomach. And since that day i never bit my fingernails ever again. I found out that it was a lie when i asked my mom and she told me that it was fake but i still shouldnt bite my fingernails b/c it is bad for your health. That was a lie too.

I used to bite my nails alot and my mom would be so disappointed in me so i put nail polish on to stop myself from biting my nails and i made the worst mess ever so when she got mad at me i was really confused and i said i was just trying to stop myself from biting when i taste the nasty flavor

my mom used to tell me that i shouldn't bite my fingernails because there were worms under them. i'd always thought she meant that the worms would stick out from under my fingernails and squirm around. i found out years later that kids can indeed get li'l tapeworms from ingesting the dirt under the fingernails. yum!

When i was a child, i was biting my nails and my mother said if i continue biting my nails, there will be nail tree in my chest.

My daughter used to bite her fingernails. Nothing I did would make her stop. One day I found a picture of the Venus de Milo and told her that she'd end up like that if she kept biting her nails. Unfortunately, that didn't work for very long either.

Mum used 2 tell me when I was younger that if I bit my fingernails a big plant would grow inside me!! I haven't eva bit my nails since!!

When I was in first grade I used to bite my nails (I don't anymore)...My mom's EX Boyfriend told me that if I bit my nails and swallowed the nail it would grow in my stomache and I would explode (of course he said the same things about watermelon seeds), but I still believed him.....maybe that's why I don't bite my nails anymore?
