when i was about 6 or 7 my mom said something about my aunt acting "bubbly" so i went and asked my neighbor what it meant and she said it was when all your insides boiled up inside of you and you would explode in 4 days if you didn't drink a cup if lemon juice!! (she was in 8th grade). so i started crying and freaking out and finally my mom told me what i meant.

When i was young, i fell over and split my knee open. We went to the hospital to get it stitched. My mum said to me though that wneh you had stitches done to you, they put you under a massive sewing machine and it automatically sewed it together! It was 2 yrs later that i realised the truth

I used to believe that when someone pointed a laser pointer at you which i thought was rare, you were bound to get leprosy which was really rare. I also used to think that bird bites triggered it. One day my sister pointed on at me and i screamed and yelled as she laughed. I hated her for that.

I once believed that if you cut your finger and get the wound infected, rice would come out of it. This made me very careful so I put a Band-aid over the wound.

When in 4th grade, a girl in our class give a presentation on how dangerous pollution can cause to our health. I was terrified at the thought of have kidney and brain damage, or hearing problems, stunted growth, or low IQ scores. So form that day forward I vowed to never eat any seafood or fish what so ever. I thought that the fish might not only damsge as I have stated above, but also they might tear me apart from the inside...*shiver*

When my godmother was very ill with cancer (I was 5 at the time) I remember my Mum explaining that it was something that grows inside you. For years I imagined cancer as being a Yucca tree that grew inside and got so big you couldn't breathe anymore and that's why you died from it. I must have been at least 10 when I discovered that wasn't the case at all and the Yucca trees in our house weren't taking over!

When I was six and my sister was 4, she got a urinary tract infection. All I remember was that there wsa this gigantic poster of a fly zoomed in at the emergency room, and my sister was put into this big machine that my dad told me "it will look at her insides" My sister was crying because she thought it was a monster. As soon as she gto inside it, I asked the doctor "So, are you going to see the mushed up green apples Lauren had for breakfast? (stemmed from the "looking at the insides" part) My mom and my dad broke out in laughter and the doctor wasn't any better. Then they explained it to me, and I thought they were kidding.

Growing up during the 80s scared the living shit out of me. Almost everyday, there was talk about diseases transferred through blood or sexual contact. Any girl I got close to freaked me out and when I was in a room that had blood I was afraid it somehow hopped onto me.

Until 8th grade I had never heard of a staph infection. All the teachers were talking about a staph infection that was in my school. I thought they meant staff infection, like a disease that was being passed on from teacher to teacher but no students had caught it. (A few of the teachers had been absent already, so I just assumed...) I was really embarressed when I learned what it really meant.

My aunt told my cousin when he had an ear infection that there was wax in his ear. He thought she'd said there were "wacks" in his ear, so when he had a less severe infection he asked if there was just one "wack" this time, lol

When I was around 10 I thought I had a brain tumor and would have black-outs. Since, you can't remember blacking out it seemed logical. I also thought that my parents didn't tell me about it because they didn't want to upset me.

My kindergarten teacher was tellign us about germs and how bad they were. She said to avoid breathing with your mouth so you wouldn't get the germs. Well one day, I had a cold. My nose was all stuffed up and I couldn't breathe, but I still listened to the teacher's warning. Needless to say I looked like a complete idiot.
