When I was younger my sister had me convinced that every night before going to bed I had to walk aroubd ny bed three times or I wouldn't wake up in the morning. That I would sleep forever. I quickly found out this was not true.
I used to believe that my dreams were a diferent world that I would go to every night, but people just would´t let me remenber it clearly when I was awake to keep me from liking the other world better.
I used to believe there was something seriously wrong with me because I would have nightmares that all my teeth were falling out. After discussing this with several friends over the years, I know this is a common nightmare of anyone who grinds their teeth while they are sleeping.
top belief!
I used to believe that when I went to bed, if I kept my eyes closed and pretended I was asleep, mini versions of the X-Men characters would fly into my room and examine me to make sure I was really asleep. I thought if I opened my eyes while they were in my room they would kill me.

For several years when I was a child, I shared a bed with my sister who was 7 years older than myself. And one night I got the bright idea to try sleeping with the covers pulled over my head. Well, my sister told me not to sleep with it that high, because I might smother. So I pulled it down below my nose. I thought that was fine, but she told me that it was STILL too high! So I pulled it down to my neck. Again, still too high, so I went to mid chest, and then before it was over, I had the covers down to my waist. After she told me that was good, she turned out the lights and went to sleep, leaving me to freeze. And like an idiot I stayed that way the whole night, too scared to cover up because I thought I'd die if I did. Sadly, it never even occured to me that I'd never smothered to death before...
I used to worry that I might die while sleeping because my heart and lung would stop cause I wasnt awake to make sure they would still beat and I would still breathe.
Just like someone else here, I thought that pain in a dream resulted in real life pain. What convinced me of this was when I had a dream that commies shot my leg, and I woke right up with sciatica pain so bad, I had to go to the hospital. Woah.
when i was little i was eating a packet of chocolate tiny teddys before i was going to bed so my darling daddy told me if i ate chocalate before bed i would have nightmares so i started crying i have learn since by trail and error it doesnt happen
:( : ) :p : s
after seeing disneys fantasia i belived that a woman flew across the sky to birng the night-time. If she saw you with you eyes open when you were supposed to be asleep she would open a magic portal and suck you through to a place where it was allways night as a punishment. However if you had hold of you duvet it would plug up the portal giving you time to climb out i was very relived when my friend proved this theory wrong
when i was 6 i believed that when i went to sleep under my bed my duvet cover would suficate me and strangle me until i was dead.so for 2 years i slept on the floor worrying that my duvet cover would attack me
at the age of 6, i was a constant victim of nightmares. then, one day, a senior gave me a crystal and said that if i looked out the window and prayed sincerely that i wouldn't get nightmares and then put the crystal under my pillow every night, i would always have a peaceful sleep. for the longest time i completed this routine before i went to bed...and i can't remember ever getting nightmares after that. i still have the crystal and it's absolutely gorgeous....

I used to believe that when I woke up in the middle of a dream, the other people in the dream would wonder where I went. It was especially gratifying if the dream was bad, like bad guys chasing me, for example.
up till i was about 11
i tohught it was impossible to sleep unless you were beathing through your nose
i used to lie awake concentrating hard on breathing through my nose
I used to believe that if you wore your socks at night when you slept, your feet would fall off.
you know the eye junk that you get when you wake up? when i was 9, my friend told me that you got that because when you laid down, all your boogers from your nose went up into your eyes. gross!!
I used to believe that I could make all the scary dreams that I would have that night flash before my eyes before I went to bed. I would close my eyes and push in on them slightly until I started seeing dark colors swirling before me. I thought this was the evil that was going to show up and that doing so would cause me to not have any scary dreams.
When I was younger I believed that if someone touched me while I was sleeping they would be able to see what I was dreaming.
When I was little I used to believe that if I slept on my back that God would take my soul to heaven, so, not ready to leave, I always slept on my stomach or sides....and I still do...
I used to be deathly afraid of going to sleep. I used to think that if you had a nightmare in which you ended up dying, then you would die in real life. This kept me awake for 5 hours almost every night. This also made me extremely scared of Freddy Krueger, since it's basically the same principle. After about 2 weeks I got over it. Oh, and you know what's really screwed up? I was 12. I'm 13 now.
I used to have this terrible fear that if I fell asleep, I would forget to breathe and die. I would sit there all night (or, as much of the night as I could), trying to stay awake so I didn't die.
