I believed when we were sleeping that we were dead
I used to believe that if I didn't sleep on my back, then wicked elves would climb onto my bottom. I remember lying there imagining them with ladders and catapults climbing onto me. When I was about 9, I was convinced I was a vampire and I made a cardboard coffin and slept in it.
I used to believe that the little bit of gunk in the corner of your eyes (or as my mom used to call it, sleep) would glow in the dark, I guess because it kind of looks the same color as the glow in the dark stuff. So I tried collecting it for a couple of days. I didn't work.
top belief!
As I would lie in bed waiting to get to sleep, I could hear my pulse / heartbeat. Quite normal. But I didn't understand that it was my pulse and concocted the fiction that the sound was actually footsteps. Specifically, the footsteps of a man (moustached, wearing a safari outfit) who was walking his way from Africa to my house and who would kill me when he got there. Fortunately, I figured that Africa was so far away it'd take him a couple of years to get to me. I felt safe knowing that I had at least a couple of years to live (*rolls eyes*).
When i was about 5 my mum always told me that the sand man was gunna come and put me to sleep by putting sand in my eyes. Well i got so scared i slept witha bandana wraped over my head.
I thought that there was a really tiny who lived in my brain named Peg who decides what I'm going to dream. That Peg was awsome.
I used to believe that when you slept, you didn't breathe. I would pretend to be asleep and hold my breath as long as I could. I used to wish so hard that I could hold my breath as long as I could when I was asleep.
i used to believe that i always slept with my eyes open. I always used to tell my mom before i went to bed that i WASN'T going to close my eyes. I guess i thought i was special!! LOL!!! :o)
I used to believe that if you kept your eyes shut tight long enough, you would fall asleep before anyone else, and if you opened your eyes even a crack before you fell asleep, you'd have to start all over again...
When I was trying to get to sleep years ago I would think that if I opened my eyes there would be pirates all around me ready to shot me.
When I was trying to get to sleep when I was younger I used to think that if I yawned that 3 rats would come and pour rat poisin down my throat and I would die.
You dont breath while your sleeping!
I used to believe that u culdn't go to sleep unless you had sleep in ur eyes, and if I woke up and wanted to sleep I was too afraid of rubbing the sleep outta my eyes in case I couldn't get back to sleep
I had a dream that i was in my primary skool and these flying tin cans with legs and arms and faces where trying to get me. they were called german measles. For years after that i cudnt sleep with my back to the room coz i beleived that the german measles were goin to get me. I was always saying to my bro "look theres german measles behind you!" I really beleived they were real. But not anymore.thank god for that
When I was 6 or 7, I used to think that time sped up when I was asleep. I didn't like bedtime, but I though that the sooner I went to sleep, the sooner I could get up again.
Up until age eight, I thought that nightmares always took place in your room next to your bed. One time I was talking to my mother and my friend and I prefaced a thought with, "You know how nightmares always appear on the side of your bed?" and they both looked at me like I was insane.
when i was a kid, i used to think that if i didn't fall asleep, morning wouldn't come
i used to believe that every time i closed my eyes, i would enter another dimension where aliens looked exactly like people i knew. i was really terrified of sleeping.
When I was little I read a book about a boy who slept with his head on the wrong side of the bed. His mum told him if he did that again he would turn into an ink splodge. At the end of the story he did it again and he turned into an ink splodge and his mum mopped him up before he could say anything.
I was so scared by this story that it was a few years before I dared sleep with my head on the wrong side of the bed!!
top belief!
My dad snores, but my mom doesn't, so when I was little I thought only men snored. So one day at school I was talking with a friend about our parents, and she said that her mother snored. I replied in shock "Your mom's a MAN?"
