I used to believe that if I fell asleep with my mouth open, a bad guy (like a criminal type) would come put sleeping pills into my mouth. As I got older I rationalized that it wouldn't matter anyway, as I was asleep already. And as an adult I now actually need sleeping pills to help me sleep.
i used to think if you dreamed about rape , you would get raped
When I was a little girl and frequently woke up at night having nightmares. I would go climb in bed with mom and dad, and everytime I did, mom was sleeping on her back. Well I thought that only mom's could sleep on their backs. So I grew up sleeping on my tummy. When grown tho, I found out it was true. When you are pregnant, you can only sleep on your back, or side! I did learn to sleep on my back.
when i was in 2nd grade someone had a health book for 6th graders. Some one said when u sleep ur eyes go back into your brain, i believed that until 5th grade
As A Child, I used to believe I did not breathe at night, I did not have to you see
I used to believe that if you kept your eyes shut tight long enough, you would fall asleep before anyone else, and if you opened your eyes even a crack before you fell asleep, you'd have to start all over again...
I used to believe that the boogie man put boogers in my nose while i was sleeping. Thanks to my neighbor!
I used to believe that someone was watching me while I was sleeping, that's why I used to sleep early with the lights on.
I used to believe that if I left my window open at night a bat would make a nest in my hair.
When I was a child my father told my little brother, if you stay up until late you will see the sandman.
My brother fell asleap on a carpet so he didn't see the sandman.
This isn't so much childhood belief as childhood logic.
When I was a kid and I was dreaming I was always terrified at the fact that I couldn't figure out whether I was dreaming or not. But one day I realised that whatever you don't want to happen in dreams is generally what happens. So I took a fear I used to have as a child of being scared of gorillas to overcome this.
When ever I was sleeping and not quite sure whether I was or not I would use reverse psycology on my subconscious mind and repeat the words "I hope a gorilla doesn't show up" over and over, and if one appeared I realised I was in a dream and had nothing to be worried about.
I used to believe there was something seriously wrong with me because I would have nightmares that all my teeth were falling out. After discussing this with several friends over the years, I know this is a common nightmare of anyone who grinds their teeth while they are sleeping.
When i was young i thought someone would come when i was sleeping and cut off my toes with an axe.
When I was younger, I used to believe that when I slept and kept my palms open, a bird or something like that would "drop one" in there! I believed this because my older cousin told me a story back then of a little child who went to the bathroom and didnt have any toilet paper so he had to hold his poo in his hand. I was very crazy back then!
my mom used to use to tell us that if we stayed up to late, we would turn into pumpkins......i was afraid of becoming a pumpkin for the longest time.
when i was a kid about 4 i used 2 think that when u went 2 sleep when u wake up u were a different person,
When i was 4 i my sister and i shared a room. We slept on a bunk bed. She had the top and i had the bottom. One night i heard this awful sound. and being only 4 i thought that there was a munster under my bed! i was so scared! When i told my mum about my fears she told me that it was just my sister snoring!!!!
When I was young, ever since I can rember, and until I was probley 10, I was strange.lol. I would lay down to sleep, and start dreaming that I was a butterfly, I would live out life as a butterfly in these dreams. And right before I woke up, I would lay down and start dreaming about being a human (as a butterfly) I had thoughts and everything in my dream. And each night, my stuff from the nights before dream would be tied in or continued, so I really had a 'life' So for years, I never really knew if I was a human or a butterfly. Because I was always dreaming I was living the life of the other one.
when i was young i thought it was illegal to sleep with my legs straight, and always had them curled up. one day at my babysitters, i was supposed to be napping but i couldn't sleep and slowly inch by inch stretched my legs out, terrified the whole time that my babysitter was going to come and get me in trouble. ....Nothing happened...I fell asleep.
When i was about 5, some kid told me that if you sleep with your mouth open evil spirits enter through it.
