i used to believe that people can fly so i tried jumping off my bed trying to fly when i was around 3-4
I convinced my younger sister that I was bionic. After school, I would run around the building and tell her I had just come from China and then pretend to speak Chinese. At night I would say "Did you hear that?" After she would say no I would say "Oh yeah I forgot, you're not bionic." I suppose that wasn't very nice of me.
I used to think I was Wonder Woman! Don't I wish it was so now!
My dad used to bend his elbow, put his thum in his mouth and pretend to blow "into" it. At the same time, he'd flex his bicep muscle. I thought he was actually using his breath to inflate his muscle!
When I was little I thought that people could read my mind. to test this idea. I would think bad thoughts of them and see if they were angry.
I also believed that if I cleared my mind, that any thought wandering into my head was someone elses, and I would then ask everyone around me what they were thinking.
Oh gods, where to start?
Weeelll, when I was small I thought that by singing, I could make the wind blow. Oddly enough, the wind DID have a tendency to pick up when I sang. o_O
Also, I used to believe I controlled streetlights in the evening because we had a tendency to go out just as they flicked on, so we would go down the road and I would watch the lights go on one by one as we went by.
I also thought I controlled stop lights, and could make them be green. (I believed I had no control over making them yellow or red, but could make them green. Another girl younger then me *in my mind* ran the yellow, and a little boy controlled the red)
Wow. I was a strange little child.
when i was 4 or 5 i had a dream that i could make things float using my mind. i actually thought i could do this, but with extreme concentration and when no one was looking... yes i actually tried it,it didn't work :(
I could fly... I even remember what it felt like and how.
One time I went over to my friends house, and he has a very younger brother who never liked the peels of an apple. My friend got tired of peeling to apple so I told him to make something up. His brother was obsessed with becoming stronger, so we just told him the apple peals would make him as strong as a dinosaur... he believed us...
I used to believe that there was someone in the world that could read my mind and tried to find out who it was. I would go to restuarants or other public places and see someone, wonder if it was them, and try to send them messages like "raise your hand if you hear me" through my mind to see if that was the person.
When I was about 3 or 4, we lived in the country on a farm and my Dad would "shoot out the stars" for years I belived that my Dad DID in fact have the power to shoot out the stars...when I was about 12 I found out that he was just firing a tracer bullet from his rifle...
When i was about 6 i would go to my brother's baseballs games and play with other kids who had siblings playing baseball. There was a big rock there and we were convinced that if you jumped off it you could fly for a little while if you really believed. So we would take turns "flying" off and i jumped pretty far so i thought i was a good believer. part of this may have come from the song "i believe i can fly"
For a a while when I waas maybe seven or something I thought I could "communicate" with dogs.
A year and a half after getting over that (I got over it "speaking dog" when I was 8) I thought I was a werewolf and could accidentilly turn into at any moment.
in second grade my teacher told me the class that the other teacher, for the other class had special powers and that someday she would show us. I believed that till I was in fourth grade.
I used to believe that my grandpa had a special power that made him fart each time I pulled his finger.
When I was a little girl, I always wanted to do everything my big brothers did but they didn't want a baby sister tagging along. My grandmother told me that if I could kiss my elbow I would become a boy just like them. I tried for YEARS to reach that elbow with my lips pursed just right ... only to learn later that it was physically impossible and just a little something grandmother invented to ease my hurt and, by then, boys liked me for being a girl. ; -) Thanks, gran!
I used to think if I closed my eyes under water that I would dissapear. I figured if I couldnt see anything no one else could see me either!!
top belief!
Once, when I was 8, I told my Mom about this weird experience I had where the exact same thing happened to me twice. She explained that it hadn't happened twice, but that I had déjà vu. The next day at school, I told all of my friends that I had this weird French disease that made me get stuck in time and repeat things I'd already done.
top belief!
When I was very, very young, my parents would try to amuse me at the breakfast table. Using the Kix cerial I was eating and some simple slight of hand, they proclaimed that I was making the Kix come out of my belly-button. Little did they know that besides amusing me, they also had me convinced of this special power. I went on believing that I could make Kix emerge from my navel for several years.
I used to think that if I ate grass, I could fly. I'm sure I decided this after watching birds. I ate alot of grass but not enough apparently.
