I used to take tennis rackets and tape cardboard paper feathers on them and then I would flap them really hard and try and fly. Since I did this in the front yard, it certainly amused the neighbors.
You know how you can slightly cross your eyes and everything appears blurry or double? I used to think that I was the only one who could do that and when I did, everyone saw what I was seeing. I remember doing it and waiting for people to look confused!
When I was 9 or so, one of my favorite video game characters was a girl with black wings. For some reason, I started to believe I was growing wings like hers! I thought I saw 2 blackish purple stripes on my back where they would grow in. I marked a day on my calender when I thought they would poke out, and the night before I did a lot of somersalts knowing that I wouldn't be able to anymore, growing wings and all. I was so disappointed the next day...
when i was little (3-10) people only exsisted when i saw them. if i wasnt there to see them then they werent really around or anywhere!
I thought I could blow up my hand by putting your thumb in your mouth and blowing(that happened in a cartoon) I did this, and was convinced my hand was a little bigger.
When I was younger, I had a lot of beliefs about psychic powers. For example, I thought I was able to read people's minds. When I went around the playground trying to read people's minds, people were saying I was crazy. Despite that, I continued until I figured out I wasn't able to.
My parents always told me that anything was possible if i tried hard enough. Combining that thought with my new knowledge about evolution and how species ajust themselves to the surroundings, i figured that if i walked backwards to school every day, eyes would grow out of my neck. I did that for weeks, but i didn't tell anyone because i wanted it to be a surprise. To my disappointment i couldn't feel anything grow in my neck, so i finally asked my dad how long evolution normally takes. 1000 years sounded a bit too much for me, so i gave it up and went back to my life planting candy in the garden "because how do you know it won't grow if no one has ever tried it before".
When I was young I would only eat pickle loaf if my mom and grandma reminded me that it made reindeer fly! I truly believed it too :)
i used to believe that i could make a hot beam come from the street lights at night by squinting and moving my head
When I was younger my brothers used to tell me if I pressed the circle on the bottom of my Nike sneakers jets would come out and I could fly. They told me not to do it though because I might crash.
I used to believe that if you ate too many carrots, your eyes would get so good that you could see through your eyelids when you tried to sleep at night.
When I was about 5 years old, my dad worked the graveyard shift. While I was watching him sleep, I noticed that the skin on his scalp looked kinda greenish (he had very fine black hair, which made the translucent skin on his scalp look green tinted to me). I asked my mom, "Why is daddy's head green?" She told me that he was an alien, and that he might make me fly around the room when he woke up. I sat by his bed, wide-eyed and excited for my alien father to wake up and use his powers to levitate me. My mom noticed me waiting by his bed, and she decided to tell me the truth... that daddy wasn't really an alien. I cried. A lot. I really wanted to fly around that bedroom.
when i was a little kid i liked to read the captain underpants series and one day i went to the store and i found the one thing that i wanted in the world, it was a hypnotyze ring from the series of captain underpants. i really thought that i could hypnotize people and tell them to buy me things. i even made a list of things i can tell people to buy me! when i finally got it in the mail i put it on my finger and the hypnotyze black and white thing came falling off and i found out that it was just glue that attached it. I was crushed.
When I was about 4 or 5, I believed that if I stood on my hands and lifted hard enough, I could levitate. I eventually gave up.
I used to believe that my special, phsycic powers allowed me to force people in other cars to stare at me until I willed them to look away. I always thought I was the one making them look in the rearview or change lanes. I also believed that I had to be careful not to over do it or they might crash.
I believed the only thing keeping me from flying was a lack of wings, and that i simply has to make some to be able to soar. Banana tree leaves and ferns taped to my arms left me disappointed after jumping from a planter several times and being unable to flap hard enough.
I was also the child who watched too many cartoons and thought a jacket, garbage bag, or sheet could be used efficiently as a parachute. Yes. I tried all three. My parents finally had a sit-down with me about randomly jumping off the roof.
I used to believe people could grow their limbs back up until I was about 12. Our neighbor had a prosthetic leg and I asked why she didn't just grow it back.
when i was really little i was scared to hold any more than 2 balloons in case they lifted me up and i flew away. when i got older i wanted to fly so i got about 6 helium balloons and jumped up and down. i didnt fly...:(
I had some vitamin pills that were shaped like Superted. I seriously thought that if I took them for ages, I’d have superpowers and be able to fly.
I was ultimately disappointed, but at least I was well nutrified.
Staring intensely into bright lights would increase my ninjitsu. No source was more potent than the Sun, but pretty much anything would go. I passed off the pain as a sign that it was working.
Incidentally, I now wear glasses.
