i used to believe that when you flapped your hands really fast you could fly which consiquently caused me to leap of a second story window flapping my arms like an idiot fortunately it had been a VERY wet month and i landed in a large muddy puddle
If you get shot with a GAMMA RAY you get really strong.
A girl I knew had a selection of very, VERY weird beliefs, some carried on until she was about 11.
Both of us watched a particular show (Dragonball Z) and the characters on it could fly and do other such super-human feats. For months (aged 9ish) she reported that her favourite character visited her at night and whisked her off on adventures. Me and my sister were truly weirded out when she recounted her night-time journeys as we knew it wasn't possible. She apparently didn't.
The same girl also believed that she could fly (a belief I'd had, then dropped aged 5) and insisted on demonstrating to us her 'powers of flight' (the highest possible jump of a ten year old). She apparently also attempted to jump from her window, but was stopped in time to prevent her 'flight'.
She also harboured the belief that she was gifted with various special powers e.g. mind reading. I'm not proud to say I played along and encouraged her.
Like almost every other weird kid, I networked with other weird kids.
When I was younger my Mom was showing me her wedding ring. She kept asking me, "Can't you see the diamond in the middle there?". I thought she meant there was a tiny second diamond INSIDE of the first one. For the longest time I would take me Mom's ring and try as hard as I could to see this second diamond inside.
I used to believe that, since the only major visible difference between Superman and any other person was the cape, that his powers came as a result from that. I was also pretty sure that that tight feeling in my stomach that happened if I tripped a little going down the stairs quickly was what flying felt like.
So, putting two and two together, I thought that if I had enough speed and tripped going down the stairs while wearing my Superman cape from Halloween, I could sustain the flight indefinitely like Superman himself.
Luckily I was always too scared to really try it.
When I was about 8 years old, I believed VCRs could be controlled telepathically. Not sure where that came from, as I used the remote control regularly. However I would still sit far away from the VCR, concentrating as hard as I could to try and make it do stuff.
When I was little I believed that when I put lipstick on my lips, the lips grew.
My mother told me this about my brother.
He used to watch the Superman live-action TV show and thought if he had a cape, he could fly. But there was a condition.
Superman, on TV, his cape always was straight as a board. So when Rob would tie a towel around his neck, he thought if he could run fast enough that the towel would fly out straight as a board behind him, he could fly while holding his arms out.
But how would he know if the towel-cape was straight if he didn't look back to check on it now and again? That's when he turned to look back at his towel-cape and ran into a tree... You must always watch where you're going.
My cousin once got some Super-man pajamas, complete with red cape, as a child...
He suddenly thought he really was Superman, and climbed out his 2nd-story window onto the porch and jumped off, thinking he could fly.
If his dad hadn't been walking up to the porch at that moment and caught him, he'd would have found out he couldn't fly the hard way.
when my friends and i were little, around six, we used to play a hansel and gretel type game and i was always the witch. eventually i really did think i had magical powers, i thought i could control the wind and it would make me fly. i have no idea where i got this theory!
When I was around 4 and 5 I used to think that the more stripes on the sides of your sneakers, the faster you could run.
my brother told me that if i dialled 666 then da devil wld come up and take my soul. And to get my soul back i had to work as a pornstar. I got told this when i was 5 and stopped beleiving it when i was 16
When I was five I beleived I controled the wind because it was almost always windy when I went out on the swings.
MY UNCLE MADE BE BELIEVE THAT I HAD AN INVISABLE EAR ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD SO I COULD HEAR WHAT PEOPLE WERE THINKING!
When i was very young i believed that i could turn on the light by blinking because when i walked into a room and did so one of my parents would turn on the light.
i believed that if i ran straight at something very fast, that i could watch time slow own as i approached it and that i could stop time or as long as i liked befoe letting my percepion slow again to hit it.
got lots of bruises, but it didn't matter because i could sto time.
When I was little some older girls (I can't remember who) came over to my house and they could run really fast. Me and my next door neighbour were amazed, when we ask what made them run fast they told us that keeping your hands open (like a karate chop) made you run fast then clenching them in a fist, because you cut through the air. Very Aerodynamic - not quite enough to run like the flash tho... mind you I still do that today when I'm sprinting!
I was told, when I was 5 that the dust on a butterfly's wing is what helped it to fly. I thought that if I collected enough butterflies, I would have enough dust to put on my arms and I could fly too.
i usded to beleve if yo had moon shoes on you can really jump to the moon! I have them today and when i got them i was dissapointed
I used to belive if someone liftes you up, and you lift them at the same time, you will float in the air.
