I used to believe that I had the power to control what people thought and said. I used to ask questions that I knew the answer to and be extremely amazed when I mouthed their answer along with them... There were a few times I remember mouthing entire sentences though, of course, I was 6 or 7 at the time and that is probably the result of an overactive imagination.
I used to believe that when I squinted at a light these light beams (think light sabers) were shooting out toward me and that I was the only person in history able to do that.
When i was 10 or so, I convinced my brother - four years my junior - that our whole family were superheroes. I had the power to read really fast, while my father and mother could TELL when we had done something wrong even when we thought we'd gotten away with it.
He was to come into his powers when he was ten also - and he believed this firmly until nearly that time. My favourite part of this prank was him trying to work out what his power would be. In the end he decided that the power to play any video game really well would be cool!
My daughter, at age 4 to 5, really believed that if she sat in the lotus position, closed her eyes and breathed "oooommmm" she became invisible. I don't know how she came to this but needless to say I played along with it and would pretend to look for her when she did this. Later on she was disappointed that this didn't work when other people were in the room. I told her her special powers only worked when only mum was in the room because she got these powers through me.
heh heh...
When i was about 5, there was one night when I came home really late at night with my dad from seeing family and the stars were out.. I had seen winnie the pooh wish upon a star on tv so i decided to do it myself.. I did the ryhme and at the end when you are supposed to wish for something i said 'honey' because i couldnt think of anything else. I went inside and told my mum and dad i had just wished for honey when dad said 'go and take your coat off'.. when I did, there was a pot of honey in my hood. I was delighted! I later realised my dad must have heard me wishing and put it there without me knowing. Heeheehee. I love magic! :D
I used to believe that random people could read my thoughts so I would be extra careful not to think anything bad about them.
i used to belive that if i stood on my hands for a very long time that i would fall in to the sky but the only thing i got to was a nose bleed
Like the American singer, R. Kelly, I also used to believe I would be able to fly..... if I tried hard enough and I tried everything! I tried jumping off the sofa and flapping my wings frantically...er..sorry, my arms...but to no avail. I tried sitting on a broomstick and saying Abracadabra like Meg the Mog in the children's books ( NOT a good idea). I couldn't understand why I couldn't sit on the damn thing! Meg the Mog did in the books that they read to us at school. ( I was only five at the time). I even thought that maybe, if I turned the broom around with the brush facing forwards, it would help me to fly better but sadly, I remained earthbound! Since that time, I have developed a deep abhorrence of anything to do with Meg the Mog, witchcraft and also, broomsticks!
soo when i was like 8... i thought that i could make the wind come and go whenever i wanted it to. when i threw my hands up, it would stop. when i slowly lowered them, it would start moving around again.. like i had it burned on my brain that it was because i had powers over the wind or something. i was weird.
I use to believe I was the only one who could move their eyes without moving their head. I was amazed at this too.
My Mum used to tell me that grownups could see through walls. She used to catch us picking our noses and so on when we didn't think we could be seen round corners or in reflections, but I completely believed that she could see through the walls.
I believed that when I was in the shower and I pressed really hard against my eyes for ages with my fists that when I opened my eyes I could briefly see into the "other realm" where there were Ghosts and such.
Unfortunatly I never saw any Ghosts in my bathroom and by the time I had ran out of the bathroom to see if there were Ghosts in any other part of the house my eyes had returned to normal. I'm not sure why I never tried doing that outside of the shower.
I used to believe that if I thought about it really hard, I could move stuff with my mind like in the Matrix. I took a spoon out of the drawer and stared at it for 10 minutes straight hoping it would bend. No luck. I also thought this was how I could fly. That didn't work either. Thinking only gets you so far I guess.
I used to believe (not too long ago) that if I stared at something for long enough and thought really hard about it I could make obkects move/fly/fall over etc -- i think i watched Matilda too many times!!
We used to believe that if we read lots of books we would get special powers and move stuff across the room with our eyes like Matilda.
My dad used to tell me that if I kissed the ouside of my elbow, I would turn into a boy. I still haven't achieved it to this day.
I used to believe I had x-ray vision because I could see through objects like my hand if I brought it close to my face. Of course, it was just because it was only covering one eye! Durrr!
I used to believe that I could use the Force, just like Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars movies. I would sit endlessly, arm pointing at some object across the room, trying to move it with my mind. I tried imagining what the object would feel like if it were in my hand. I tried picturing the object moving across the room and into my hand. I tried thinking of a field of energy that would come out of my hand and envelop the object, like a tractor beam. Nothing ever worked. That Yoda's full of baloney!
I watched this show with some superhero or something and he flew and so I figured if I tied a garbage bag around me on a windy day and I jumped off the deck (we had a two story house by the way) that i could fly and I did thank goodness the trampoline was under me i only ended up with a sprained wrist.
I used to have dreams that I could walk around in the air about half a metre off the ground. It happened so much that I got confused and thought I could really do it. I remember jumping off stuff in the garden and being mighty disappointed that I'd lost that power.
