i have an innie, and my granpa told me that if you push your bellybutton it will make your belly all wrinkled like his and your belly button will close up, he had his removed after surgery and i did not know that. i thought it would be cool to be wrinkly so i was sat there, trying to do it but it just became sore.

My mother once told me that your belly button was a tube directly connected to your stomach. If you picked at your belly button too much, you would open the tube and your would bleed to death (she was a very frighting mother). She said that this happened to a young boy she knew when she was a child. By 4th grade I started to figure out what belly buttons are for, but I still thought it was possible to die from belly button opening. It was only in 7th grade Health class that I completely learned that belly buttons are just scars, and to this day I like by dad better.

I used to think the scandalous part of wearing a bikini was that it showed your belly button, which I guess is actually true to an extent. But I thought the belly button was to a lesser extent, a "private part."

When I was little, about 7, (I'm 15 now) my brother who was 13 at the time, (20 now) told me that if I ever went into his room he'd poke my belly button and I'd deflate like a balloon on the spot. I had been brave and poked it myself, but after going to him and telling him he was lying he said "only big brothers can do it".

I used to believe that if someone put their finger in my belly button and twisted hard enough, my legs would fall off. This always made me terrified of my brother, I was nine, and he was thirteen, he always tickled me and I was scared he would be the death of me. He always goes for my belly button for some reason, lol.

When I was little I used to wonder what the little knot was on the inside of my navel. Mine had a more prominant bellybutton on the inside and I wanted it to go away. I was told it would get smaller as I got older. Well, momma, I'm 26 and my navel STILL has that outie thing in it, lol.
