When our science teacher told us that our heart pumps blood to every part of our body, I used to think it's amazing that at the sound of the "thump", blood rush out from the heart to every vein and vessels, and each drain of those blood rushes back to the heart at the end of the "thump". I must have had a powerful heart!

When I was very young a friend of my mother would come to visit. Her leg had been amputated and when she would drink coffee I waited with great anticipation thinking that the coffee would drip out any minute.

When I was very small I believed that children had no bones and that everything you ate somehow became 'stuck' to hollow spaces inside your body, where the food would become bones.

By the time I was about 3 I thought I had about half my bones and used to visualise things sticking to my half-formed skeleton to make my bones bigger.

I guess this comes from being told 'Eat up to make you strong'...but my poor mother couldn't stop laughing when I asked her about this!

When I used to make silly faces at my grandfather, he'd always tell me, "If you do that too often your face will stay like that!" or "Don't sneeze or your face will be like that forever!" I believed it.

As a child I was convinced that tooth fillings would turn your teeth black. I was 36 years old before I got the courage to ask my dentist if this was true, and she looked at me like I was insane.

I used to believe that the soul was an organ of the body, like a heart or lungs. It sat somewhere under the stomach, it was discus shaped, hard and porridge-coloured.

when my the first of tooth about to fall, my elder brother made me beleive that if I showed it to open sky, a replacement tooth wont grow at all. Hurriedly I used to bury it in our garden.

I had my adenoids removed when I was 7, or rather as I believed, I had my asteroids taken out. I also believed that if you asked nicely they'd give you them in a jam jar to take home.

When I was little I used to think that men who had lost the hair on the top of their head had lost the top part of their head too and there was a danger that things might fall out if they leant over. It was for this reason that I refused to sit next to my Grandad at the dinner table.

For some reason I didn't know what the word excitement meant, I thought there was a deflated balloon somewhere in the region of our diaphragm, and when we got excited it would inflate, but not knowing the word I always called it "the deflated balloon feeling"

Growing up in a kosher household, I somehow got the idea that if you touched blood your hand would shrivel up and fall off, following an incident in year 7 science involving half a kidney and a pair of tweezers I realised it didn't go quite that far.

When I was three, my uncle said that if I pressed my nose, it would turn into a button. I believed him and never touched my nose... Then one day, my dad said it wasn't true and pushed my nose really hard. I cried for nearly an hour because I thought it had turn into a button... the only thing that made me stop was when my sister showed me her mirror!

As a child my mother convinced a more gullible younger sister that a bumble bee would never ever ever sting you on the tip of your nose. One day my aunt Bessie saw a bee climbing up the kitchen window and full of confidence put this new law to the test. I am sure you can probably guess the rest. Mind you they had to make their own entertainment in those days.

I THOUGHT THAT OUR SOUL WAS A BIG SHINY CRYSTAL IN OUR CHEST, BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW OUR HEART,OUR STOMACH AND OUR SOUL COULD FIT IN SUCH A SMALL PLACE. I THOUGHT THAT IF THE PERSON WAS BAD THE CRYSTAL WAS SMALLER. I BELIEVED IT WAS A PINK CRYSTAL.
