I used to think that all of your baby teeth fell out all at once and you had to eat soup until your new teeth grew in.

I thought for a long time that it was against the rules to put your face in your hands until you were 10 years old.

I believed that whatever you did to one hand (or side of your body) that you needed to do the same thing to your other hand / side so you would "stay even." Because the side of you that didn't get the special treatment would be jealous!

I wanted people to shake both hands, not just one. And I "painted" my nails with marking pens by doing one thumb, then the other, then both index fingers, etc.

I used to believe that my heart (everyone's heart for that matter) was in the shape of a heart and swung on a chain like a pendulum. I thought a heartbeat was it tick-tocking like a clock. This made me a bit uneasy when I did summersaults or was otherwise upside down.

As a child I made lots of goofy faces and my mom (entire family, really) used to tell me that my face would stick that way if I kept doing it. Same goes for crossing my eyes. If I kept them crossed for too long, they were bound to stay that way forever. I believed this wholeheartedly.

I was scared of ever getting braces because I thought that the orthodontist would actually drill holes straight through your teeth to put them in, and that it would be extremely painful. Not until I was told I would need braces, at the age of 15, did I look it up and realize that the brackets were actually glued to your teeth and there was no invasive surgery involved!

When I was a child, in the 80's, I asked my father why radio stations sometimes came in clearer when I stood near or touched the antenna. He explained that we all had a metal plate in our heads and that the closer we stood to the radio, the stronger the signal would get. I believed this up until I was 13, when I was finally set straight after I told my teacher about it one day in science class.

When I was little, a boy at school told me that the white dots that sometimes appear on fingernails were caused by lying. From then on, I was wary of people with injured fingernails. When they developed on my nails occasionally I would worry that everyone would know I had told a lie. I grew up to be very honest!

My co-worker believed that one of the two testicles was actually at the head of the penis because they couldn't possibly both be at the bottom.

I used to think that when you fell on the pavement and got small stones / sand / rocks stuck in your skin, you would have to have them surgically removed. Of course, I got this idea from one of my parents friends having to pass a stone.

I was convinced for a long time that my elbow was my armpit. There WAS logic behind it: I wasn't thinking of the word "pit" as a hole or a hollow, but like the pit in a cherry or a peach. The bone in the elbow was round and hard like a peach pit, so I figured that that had to be the arm pit.

Whenever misbehaving, my parents would tell me the Gypsies would come and take me away to make soap out of my stomach.
For a while there I believed that soap was made out of bad little boys' stomachs.

When I used to make silly faces at my grandfather, he'd always tell me, "If you do that too often your face will stay like that!" or "Don't sneeze or your face will be like that forever!" I believed it.

When I was little, I used to believe that underneath our skins, we were all just swimming with blood, like a big sack. If you got a cut, you'd bleed because were leaking. I found out about blood vessels in school and was a bit confused at first. Then we got to the capillaries.

When I was a kid I thought that your tonge went all the way down to your stomach and just spred out in a toung like plate in your torso. And that food just sat there for a awhile.
