I used to believe that boys and men didn't have eyelashes. I think it was from how "girly" eyelashes looked when you drew them. I believed this until second grade!

When I was 4 years old I didn't think black people brushed their teeth. One day my mom was taking me to sunday school in church. As we were walking up the stairs we passed a black woman who sang in the choir. As my mom stopped to talk with her I spoke up (quite loudly): "Do black people brush their teeth?" My mom was quite embarrased and left in quite a hurrty appologizing to the woman. Lucky for us the lady thought it was 'cute' and wasn't bothered at all.

Mom and Dad liked to play this little game with me where she would be on one side of my head, and he would be on the other side. Then they would look through my ears like a keyhole to see each other on the other side. "Oh, yes, I can see you," they'd say. "Ah, there you are!"

Neither of them would let me look through THEIR ears.

I was blown away. But I could never seem to see light on the other side of someone else's ear.

This is not my belief, it's my little cousins.

As a child he believed he had a uterus. We tried to explain that only girls had them, and that he had a uvula. He said no, he had both. We couldn't convince him otherwise.

When I was seven, one of my friends had only one arm (she was born this way). I used to believe that there must be some way - magic or medicine - to make her other arm grow normal overnight.

I used to believe the blood in your body was just there, not going through the veins. I started believing this when I got a cut and it bled.

Okay. For a while, up until last summer, I somehow thought I could get a deadly disease through my own blood or something, or maybe thought I could somehow pass a horrible disease to my guardians if they touched me and I was wearing an even-slightly-bloodied article of clothing. So I was afraid of my own blood, and the Time Of Month was even worse because of that. I was afraid to touch my own blood. Finally my guardian told me how futile it was to fear my own blood...I already know what's in MY blood.

I still do not like getting blood on things, even my own blood, but at least now I know a disease isn't gonna magically appear out of thin air if I get my blood on something.
