i used to believe that caskets look like ordinary wodden boxes, rather small and they would have inscriptions like "handle with care" and "this side up". of course you would have to fold the dead people to get them inside....
i have never been to a funeral in my childhood.
I used to believe that everyone died when they became 100 years old, so everyone would be really scared the day before their 100th birthday because they knew they were going to die the next day.

it doesn't seem like a good belief but once i thought of it while around a friend once and he dropped dead..........................................i never recovered ........
I used to think that when people died, their whole bodies were taken up to heaven, not just their spirits.
When I was about 10 I was told by two girls who were babysitting me as we walked though a cemetary that if I walked on a grave a chickenman would jump out of it and peck me to death. i totally belived it too and had nightmares.

I used to beleive that the grease spots on our driveway directly under my bedroom window, were the squished remains of the previous tenants children, who had leaned over and fallen out of the window.

when i was 8 i used to think that people who died turned into somthing else like santa or the easter bunny (i knew about God i just thought they would work for him)and if u died at the right time u got a good job like santa but if u dident u wound up as cupid!(i dident realize how many people die every day i thought there were only like 20 per year)my great grandfather died in november ok well when christamas time arrived my dad decided to dress up as santa for our family christmas party and when he came inside i was soo ecxited becuase here was grandpa! and i ran over and hugged him and precceded to call him gandpa and tell him i was so haapy to see him all night my parents let it go and explained it to me the next day!
When my son was four a very loved neighbor passed away. I sat David down on the porch to tell him about Grampa Bob. I looked into his little face and told him but he did not understand. So I asked him if he remembered when his goldfish died? He got this terrible look on his face and asked me how Grampa Bob would fit down the toilet!
My dad told me that when people died they were on top of the clouds or they were stars.
For one reason or another, my sister used to believe that whenever someone, anyone, died, their body would atomatically assume the position of Christ; that is, their feet together and their arms splayed outwards.
when i was little i thought that when we die we become stars and watch over our family that is still alive
When I was a kid, my mom used to take me to funerals. I always wanted to go with her to view the body so I could sneak in a touch to see if it was real. I used to beleive that funeral homes would make statues of the people and put them in caskets because they were so hard.
I used to believe when you died you go to a cloud wherever it chooses if you stay there go to hell or heaven and while you were there u met the fairy god mother and the tooth fairy. YES YES i got it from a movie but i was like 7. I am now 13 so I know my differences. :)

I once sucked the liquid out of a purple magic marker when I was about 4. When my sister saw my tongue she said, "Oh no! You're going to die!" A couple of minutes later my mother saw my tongue and immediately started scrubbing my tongue with a toothbrush. She too said, "You're going to die!" I didn't fully understand the concept of what death was, I said, "Oh, umm, okay."
I used to hold my breath every time a stranger passed me on the streets because I thought that if they had cancer and I breathed in their air, I would get cancer too...and I would hold my breath as long as I could in old people's houses, because I thought the weird smell was death, and I would breath it in and die sooner.
At the split second you die, you actually get transported to a parallel universe where you witness your survival.
I used to believe that when people die, they turn into the clouds. and if you looked hard enough, you could see their spirits. Even the spirits of dragons were up there from long ago
I used to believe that the people who were laying in coffins underground weren't really dead. That they were just laying there, staring up into the darkness of the coffin. Then I'd think "well, what do they do when they're bored?"
