I used to believe that every one that
passed away would come and visit me.
No matter if I knew them or not!
A couple of teenagers that babysat me when I was abou 4 told me that if you had cracks in your tongue you were going to die, and all I remember thinking is...my dad has cracks all over his tongue. To this day I still look at the cracks in my tongue and wonder....
I used to believe that if you jumped over somebody lying on the ground, your mom would die unless you jumped them again the opposite way.
When my favorite Uncle died, I thought if I stared at him in his coffin he would open his eyes and be alive.

I used to believe that if you bled to death, you'd get flat!
From about 1974, as a 4th grader I thought at any time next week...armageddon would be here and that all the "meek" would keep living forever...but first we had to clean up all the bones from all the dead people in the world. Mom said after the birds picked the meat off, that would be our job....But if you are bad..and not a Jehovah's Witness, you would "certainly perish"...and soon!
As any 4th grader, I hated missing all the fun of holidays, birthdays, etc...so I was bad in my mind...and lived till I was 25, wondering what day it would be....
I used to believe I had no future...

When I was younger I thought that the cementaries where filled with gravestones that were reserved for when people die. I remember runnning around a cementary with my friend trying to find ours. Needless to say when I found out they were actually all dead I was pretty overwelmed!
I remember telling a friend that when I died and went to Heaven, I'd go visit famous people like Elvis Presley.

I used to believe that when you die you turn into an animal.
A week later I got a new dog and I called it Granny
My oldest sister was killed on Christmas Eve about a month before my third birthday. For some reason, I decided that I was going to die during the night when I turned 17! Imagine my surprise when I awoke the next morning ~ alive! Ever being the optimist, I decided I would die the night I turned 21! I gave up believe THAT when I woke up and was actually 21 and never believed it again. Also had a 7 mo. old niece who died when I was 7 or 8. She hadn't been baptized and I was told she was going to Purgatory. Wasn't sure what that was, but always thought she was in the celler and was afraid to go down there unless there was a light on. Thank goodness I have different beliefs now!
When I was a child I thought all the people that died turned into manikins needless to say I was afraid of them.

I used to believe that I killed my friend with words..We had a fight, and I told him I wished he would die.He got leukemia shortly after, and then died.I was sure I was to blame, and watched my words carefully.I still feel guilty though, now 35 years later...
When I was a child I believed that if I went into a room and couldn't remember what I was doing there, one of my family members would die.
i use to belive that if i didn't watch my grandma in her sleep that she would die which was not true but i belive it for along time anyways.
I had a brother die when I was 10 years old, he was 14, and we were very close. I told him when he was sick that I would miss him if something happend to him, and he didn't come home from the hospital. He told me he would be up in the clouds forever, and that if I looked real hard I would see him, and that I could talk to him. I believed this for many years, even though I knew it wasn't possible. You know I still find myself looking up, and smiling . It just makes me feel good. I still think he's up there looking down on me, and helping me get through some though things.
When I was seven years old my grandma died. My father and my grandpa was with her when she died. When dad came home and told me garandma was dead, I got pissed off at him because he hadn't taken me to se her die, because I thought God would stretch his hand down and she would climb onto it and God would take her to heaven.......
Afterwards I used to dream that I spoke with her, and I thought it was for real.
