When I was around 3 or 4 i hated fish , so i would never eat it! around the same time i watched 'The Little Mermaid' ...and fell in love with Ariel! At the time i didn't really know how to swim ...and so my mom told me that if i ate fish i would turn into a mermaid ! I ate fish constantly , and would always stick my legs into our pool to see if they would turn into a fin!.... if ur wondering ...they never did !

When I was younger I was told, by my aunt, that stuffing is the inside of a turkey( heart, liver, ect..). Despite this belief every Thanksgiving I would eat it until I would begin thinking about what it was and get a little nauseous, especially if I had a particularly moist portion. It wasn't until this past thanksgiving which was after my 17th birthday that I was told the truth. But if you think about it thats not to bad because my aunt really thought it was the insides of a turkey and shes 38.

Once during dinner when I was about 6, I kept slurping my soup really loudly, and my mom got really irritated about this so she told me that "If you keep slurping your soup like that you'll go deaf." I taught myself to eat my soup in a very quiet manner and believed that until I was 10.

I used to belief that mangoes were blue, because of a children's book where they were painted that colour. i was horrified when I realized that they weren't! I'm still searching, there must be some out there somewhere...

when i was about 5 or 6, my mom would always show me those commercials where there were kids in somalia that ate out of garbage cans because they were so poor. so my mom would show me those commercials and tell me, "That's why you should eat everything that i give you because those kids have nothing to eat." So I thought that my mom didnt want to help those kids because she told me to eat everything on my plate and not throw anything away. so naturally, i threw all the food that i could into the trash can. i thought that this would help the kids who ate out of the trash cans.
Note:
my mom meant that i shouldnt thrown any thing into the trash because i was lucky to have food and that i shouldnt waste it. i was 5 or 6 so i didnt get the meaning at the time.

When I was about 9 years old, my Mom gave me some money and told me to get her a pound of lox. Later, I came back home with the money she had given me and told her the man in the hardware store said he only sold locks by the piece, not the pound.

i used to think that when you ate things like liver and brains it would add to your own, the little bits after being chewed would move to corresponding organ in your body. if u ate more liver your liver would grow.

when i was a little kid, my parents told me that how ever many grain of rice i left on my plate, it would appear on my face. so, when i saw people with pimples on their face, i thought it was because they left rice on their plate.

Once when I was younger I thought that a mistake was some kind of meat like a porterhouse or a t- bone, so when my parents would say that they made a mistake I thought dinner would be ready soon.

When I was little we used to eat at Chinese restaurants a lot, and I would always see "hunan chicken", as in chicken cooked in the style of the Hunan province in China, on the menu. I misread it as "human chicken" and thought it was made from people. Once my grandma ordered some and i freaked out- "Don't eat it Grandma! Its people!"
