When my brothers and I were younger, my mother used to tell us to eat all our dinner because there were children in Ethiopia that were starving. After my mom left the kitchen, I would throw half of my meal in the trash so when the homeless people rummaged through the trash, they would have something to eat. I thought I was single handedly feeding the population of Ethiopia.
When I was younger, my cousin told me that if you ate a breakfast cereal, you would turn into the character on the box.
I used to have nightmares about turning into Rory the Tiger on Frosties!

When I was 4, I thought Bumblebee tuna was made from bumblebee meat.
My mom would take me to McDonald's all the time when I was younger. I wouldn't eat the ends of the french fries because they were hard and I thought they were bones.

I used to believe that you got 'Mintolia Disease' if you ate too much mint flavoured Ice Cream.
I used to believe that it was every vegetables destiny to be eaten so I couldn't leave a carrot on my plate or it would be sad. I couldn't eat just one pea or one broccoli piece either because they would die alone so I would eat even numbers of veggies so everyone would have a friend to go down with.
When i was little i used to think brocclie (sp?) were little trees and I would shake the before i ate them just incase there was a birds nest in there.
I used to think that when you ate too much, your stomach would get filled up and you could never eat again in your life.
The first time my younger cousin encountered sprinkles were on Grandma's sugar cookies. Therefore, she calls them cookie rice.
I used to believe that clouds were mashed potatoes and whenever we had mashed potatoes for dinner my mother would reach up (without our looking) and grab them.
Until I was about 8 or 9, I believed that baled hay (like the big rolled bales) was Shredded Wheat. My parents told me that when it rained, they shrank down and the cereal people put them in the boxes.
When I was young, my grandmother used to cook dinner every night. Whenever she said "This came from scratch", I thought scratch was a friend of my grandmother's that I had never met. I would always ask my family who scratch was but they just gave me a blank stare. When I hit about 7 or 8 years old, I finally figured out what scratch meant. No wonder they looked at me with that blank stare.
The first time my little sister saw a different McDonald's than the one in our hometown, she became outraged that they had stolen our McDonald's idea. We had the real McDonald's and this one was a copy by someone mean.

My friend when aged 5 was told at a drinks party to pass round a bowl of 'penis' to other guests by her older brother. They were in fact peanuts.
Totino's once had a commercial for their Pizza Bites in which a whole pizza was folded down into one little Pizza Bite. I believed that a Pizza Bite was literally an entire pizza folded up, and told people I could eat a whole pizza in one bite.
As a young child I used to believe that when meat was served for dinner it was only sick animals or ones that had died from being old. I finally discovered the truth when on a road trip i saw a truck full of lambs and quizzed my parents about them. They told me that is what we eat. I can honestly say I was horrified at the thought of eating heathly animals.
