When I was little I used to believe that if I ate grapes with the pips in that a grape tree would grow out of my ears. Imagine my horror when one day I swallowed one by accident! My whole family would always get together at my Grandmother's house in the country to celebrate 4th of July. One year when my cousin Tommy was about 6 years old, he suddenly started crying and totally freaking out. My older cousin and I finally got him to calm down enough to speak. He was upset because he had swallowed a watermelon seed. One of the kids at his school had told him that if he swallowed a seed it would grow roots in his belly and branches all up inside of his brain.
